ALL STAGE LIGHTS OFF, LIGHT ON SIDE ON STORY TELLERS
STORYTELLER STELLA: Come with me now and lets take a peek at an old story that
you thought you already knew. But Im sure there are some things that youll be
surprised to hear. It may change some things for you like Who you are celebrating this
Christmas and Who rules and reigns in your life. (Music begins) CD 8
STORYTELLER STEVEN: Its Bethlehem 2,000 years ago and a Child has been born.
His name is Jesus. Most people were thrilled to hear the news, but some werent so
thrilled. One of them was a king. His name was Herod.
Bring Them to Me
(Storyteller Stella, Choir, Herod, and Sherlock)
STORYTELLER STELLA SOLO:
Step back in time two thousand years,
Youll be surprised by what you hear;
STORYTELLER AND CHOIR:
Herod is reigning and he is complaining,
Hes angry as angry can be.
So lets step back in history, come with me!
HEROD:
I am Herod the ruler, need I say anymore? Im the king!
CHOIR:
A fact you cant ignore.
HEROD:
The nerve of those wise men to stand in my court
And ask me where that Baby would be born.
They followed a star on their journey;
They thought a star would lead to their king?
Ha ha! How dare they would stand in my presence; Someone go find them for me!
CHOIR:
Herod calm down and count to ten,
Herod slow down stop jumping ahead;
Theres really no reason, Your majesty,
Listen, those wise men could not hurt a flea.
HEROD:
But theyve got something up their sleeve,
Bring them to me!
Ill find those three wise men, theyll be trembling with fear
I am king! I thought I made that clear!
CHOIR:
But Herod, poor Herod was raging mad for sure.
His royal highness was so insecure.
HEROD:
I told them to return to me, And that was my word, my decree.
I told them I wanted to worship.
CHOIR:
But we know hes lying through his teeth.

CHOIR:
Herod slow down, stop jumping ahead;
Theres really no reason, Your majesty, listen
Those wise men could not hurt a flea.
HEROD:
But theyre acting suspiciously, bring them to me!
SHERLOCK: CHOIR:
Shirley Sherlock is my name, Im (She's) from the FBI.
SHERLOCK:
One day Herod summoned me,
SHERLOCK and HEROD:
Sherlock, find those guys!
SHERLOCK:
Those wise men dont seem very wise to disobey a king;
I for one will do my best to please his majesty.

HEROD:
Bring them to me!
CHOIR:
Herod slow down, stop jumping ahead;
Theres really no reason,

HEROD:
I dont trust me who travel in threes, bring them to me!
SHERLOCK:
Perhaps I was put on the earth for such a time as this,
I could become a CEO of Herods offices;
Ill go get those wise men, bring them to his majesty,
Ill be Herods right man, just you wait and see!
Herod, Im on it, Ill solve this case. (CHOIR, too)

Theres really no reason, your majesty, listen
SHERLOCK and CHOIR:
Those wise men wont change history.

Unless the Baby could actually be the King of kings!

Scene 2
Storyteller Stella: See, I told you King Herod was mad.
Sherlock: (to the audience) But not mad at me. Herod called ME to get to the
bottom of this mystery and find out some information on this Baby
and see why those wise men didnt come back like he ordered
them to do. See, Im Sherlock, and this is my assistant Wendy
Watson. I am the chief investigator for (look both ways carefully
before he says the words) the FBI.
Kids: Ssshhhhhhhhhhhh.
Watson: Thats From Bethlehem Investigations. Yes, Judeas finest.
Sherlock: Never lost a case and I dont plan to lose this one. So, being the
investigator I was trained to be, I did two obvious things: (music
begins CD17) I went and got a donut (delivered by Donut Man) and
headed straight over to the Bethlehem Public Library.did a little
snooping around.

Sherlocks off to the library,
Hell research the Babys ancestry;

He couldnt be of royalty if I can be so bold,

might be in just a little bit of trouble.
SHERLOCK: What have I gotten myself into?
WATSON: First rule of investigation: Find a source in the know. And we found one, but
this one seems to be the Holy Scripture!
SHERLOCK: So I ran a little background on this Baby and found out that He might be
the King of the Jews! I may be in over my head!
SHERLOCK, WATSON, LIBRARIAN and STORYTELLERS STEVEN AND STELLA

Storyteller Stella: So Sherlock was afraid that
Sherlock: (to storyteller) Im afraid of NOTHING!
Storyteller Steven: So Sherlock and Watson thought..
Sherlock/Watson: We dont THINK, We KNOW!!!
Storytellers: (Steven and Stella say frustrated) OK, OK..
Storyteller Stella: so Sherlock and Watson KNOW that.
SHER/STOR/WAT: Herods NOT going to like this.
Sherlock/Watson: (To Librarian) Excuse me, miss.
Librarian: Shhhhhh! Lower your voices!
Sherlock/Watson: (Trying to make their voices sound lower) Excuse me, miss.
Librarian: Not lower, I mean quieter. This IS a library.
Sherlock: Im Sherlock and I have huge case.
Librarian: A huge case of what? The measles? The flu? As loud as youre
speaking I wish it was laryngitis!
Sherlock: I mean were on a case! (Sherlock and Watson look both ways)
Sherlock/Watson: for the FBI!
Librarian: (loudly) FBI??????
Sher/Wat/kids: Now youre shushing ME?
Watson: (flashes his/her badge) Were on a case
Sherlock: for the BIG GUY
Librarian: The big guy?

Watson: You know, the main most man in town, the sassy sovereign
Librarian: Who?
Sher/Wat/Kids: King Herod!!!!
Librarian: Oh right, right, right. So, what can I do for his Royal Craziness?
Sherlock: Well, Im investigating the birth of a Child.
Watson: One that took place here in Bethlehem.
Librarian: Which one? There are a lot of children born in Bethlehem.
Watson: Yes, but this was a Child that was supposed to be the King of the
Jews.
Librarian: Oh yeah, I remember that. There was an article in the Bethlehem

Star a couple years ago about that. Why dont we step over to the
computer lab and search for it?
Sherlock: (loudly) OK! Now were talking!
Librarian: Shhhhhhh. Lower!
Sherlock: (whispers lower voice) OK
Librarian: OK, heres the article.
Sherlock: (reading from the article) And there were shepherds living out in the
fields nearby keeping watch over their flocks at night.
Watson: Wow! Can you send me this article?
Librarian: Of course: you want me to e-mail and fax it, too?
Sherlock: Just the fax maam.
Watson: Hey, how DID the shepherds find out about this Child?
Librarian: (English accent) Elementary, my dear Watson.

Shepherds: Cause they didnt want to get shushed!! (sheep baa laughingly)

these facts about this Baby and find out exactly why those wise
men didnt return to Herod.

Storyteller Steven: Do you think right now they are wondering.
Sherlock/Watson: We never wonder!
Storyteller Steven: Then what are you doing?
Sherlock: Im. Im
Watson: Were pondering
Storyteller Stella: Pondering what?
Sherlock/Watson: Why did we ever take this case!
Kids: Herod ordered you!
Sherlock: I KNOW!
Watson: I KNOW!
Librarian: Shhhhhhhh! Lower!
Storyteller Steven: (in best bass voice) Oooo.someones getting (stops bass
voice, realizing its silly, clears throat) I mean someones getting a
little testy dont you think? Lets listen as Sherlock and Watson go
over their evidence.
Sherlock: My background check proves that the Baby has the royal bloodline
of the King of the Jews.
Kids: Check!
Watson: And the shepherds were actual eyewitnesses of the childs birth in
Bethlehem.
Kids: Check!
Librarian: And the angels confirmed that the little Baby boy was sent from
heavens throne and was indeed
Everyone: The Savior of the world!

Sherlock: Check! Oh boy..
Watson: Herods not gonna like this.
Sherlock: I AM in trouble.
Storyteller Stella: Poor Sherlock and Watson. You can just tell that their nerves are
getting frazzled.
Storyteller Steven: They know that the good news of this babys birth was going to be
Bad news for Herod to hear. They think
Sherlock/Watson: KNOW!
Storyteller Stella: They know.
Sherlock/Watson: Its time to find those kings!
Librarian: Why dont you just Google wise men?
Sherlock: (Looking at the computer) Nothing. It just showed a song.
Kids: Look at the words!
Sherlock: The words! Of course. Glad I thought of it! Here Watson, you
read.
Watson: We three kings of Orient are, bearing gifts, we travel so far.
Sherlock: Hey I wonder what gifts they brought the Baby?
Wise Man 1 Christian: Gold!

Sherlock: Really? Sure doesnt sound like gifts for a baby. Youd think theyd
at least bring a pacifier.
Wise Man 1 Christian: Well, for THIS Baby, there are the perfect gifts.

Sherlock: Well why didnt you three return and tell Herod where he was?

Watson: Is it hot in here or is it just me?
Sherlock: My hearts pounding out of my chest! My pulse is racing and Im

feeling very dizzy. (Fans herself)
Librarian: Shh! Now calm down. Just breathe! I know youre under a lot of
pressure. Sherlock, Watson, I think I know someone you should
talk to.
Watson: Yea. Who?
Sherlock: Dr. Phil?
Watson: Nancy Grace?
Librarian: No silly, its my cousin Vinny. You see, he and his wife run a little in
on the opposite side of town and well its the inn where the Baby
was born. Well, not actually in the inn, but in their stable.
Sherlock: What?
Watson: Why didnt you tell us this sooner?
Librarian: Well its because all Vinny ever says is, Well, if I knew then what
I know now. And I never understood what he meant until well,
until.. now. After seeing all the evidence it makes sense.
Sherlock: Wait a minute, dont jump to conclusions!
Watson: How do we get in touch with this Vinny. Times running out.
Sherlock: His royal meanness is probably blowing his stack right now and Im
going to be toast!
Storyteller Steven: So, youll notice then that Sherlock and the Librarian have become
(music begins) partners in crime solving.
Storyteller Stella: Their next search will be for Cousin Vinny, the innkeeper, and his
wife. Their story will touch Sherlock and Watson in a personal way.
