This article speaks about Sebastian Kurz, Austrias youngest minister and the
first millennial leader of our time. It speaks about Kurzs support for the boarder wall
and he says that basic protection such as fences and thermal imaging cameras are the
most eective in the crack down of illegal immigration. He has praised previous
attempts to shut down European boarders and mentioned that this practice has
become more accepted regardless of how controversial it seemed at first. The article
also points out several policies that Kurz supports which Trump has commented on,
such as a burka ban. I will be using this article to answer question two, about the
parallels between Trump and Kurz and why theyre so popular regardless if they can be
seen as racist. Although Kurzs vernacular is more refined than Trumps it doesn't
change the fact that their ideas are still demonizing immigrants and suppressing
muslims across their countries.

This article talks about political correctness and how we use it nowadays. It
argues that its changing our culture and our way of speaking by making us more
careful of our words. This is specifically important for people in high positions such as
politicians and theres a whole section about how being politically correct is used as a
strategy to make the politician more successful. I intend to use this for my third
question, After the Trump era, should being politically correct stay relevant in politics
and the media? I want to outline why being politically correct made politicians so
successful and how it was a basic rule of any politician, specially someone as powerful
as running for president. I also want to highlight how Trumps success has come from
being the complete opposite.

Trump. The Atlantic. Retrieved from https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/

The article starts o explaining why Trumps lack of political correctness was so
appealing to voters. They thought that Trump would be hardheaded and dive in straight
to the problems the country has had and not beat around the bush like other politicians
have. However, people soon realize that this is not what has been happening. Instead
Trump has kept lie after lie about his campaign going in hopes to derive the attention to
the fact that hes lying instead of what hes actually doing. I will be using this article to
answer question number 3, if political correctness is still relevant after the Trump era.
Since this article highlights points where Trump has been politically correct, just, not in
the conventional way. Instead he doesnt mention some events, specifically relating to
terrorism, and by staying silent is his way of being politically correct.

message is violent to its core. [Video file]. Retrieved from https://

During Trumps campaign he focused on making America great again, he kept

talking about people standing up for what they believed in. In concept, this is a good
idea, however he kept mentioning how people should physically harass each other, and
how if you cant control a protestor, how are we going to put other countries back in
their place? Trump heavily criticized the idea of being politically correct and told his
supporters that it was outdated and senseless, that there was no reason to hide the
truth and if it oended people they could suck it up. This will answer my second
question why is Trump being politically incorrect such a popular idea? Since he stands
out from other politicians and he fires people up, will other politicians even continue to
be politically correct? The answer is likely, since Obama was more than politically
correct in his own words and what his sta would say in name of the white house.
Although people liked the concept of Trump being politically insensitive, it doesnt
mean that in practice it works well.

This article actually defines what being politically correct means and even adds
some examples to clarify. The author includes peoples opinions that being politically
correct hides the truth in fear that it might oend someone. This answers my first
question, what is political correctness. I want to primarily use the first paragraph of this

source where the author asks why we even need to be politically correct when there
will be other ways people are oended by our words. I also liked that she included the
fact that people think our ideas are being suppressed and that the truth is hidden just
because people need to be politically correct.

House that isn't afraid to lie? [Video file]. Retrieved from https://

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hlk3TBJdWwE

This video is about Trumps administration bluntly lying and making propaganda
out of something that should of just been simple facts. It mentions how Trump is likely
to make the White House a unreliable source, and how its a job better suited for
interns instead of a journalist with prestige and experience. This will tie in with my third
question, since during the Obama administration they used to be very careful about
what the White House would say and give as little information as possible in fear of
saying something wrong or insensitive. Now Trumps administration is doing the
complete opposite and saying too much information to the point where its not all true.
The lack of political correctness, verbal strategies and simple temper checks will make
the White House a place where people need to triple check the White Houses facts
and consider if what theyre saying is even news worthy or not. When before they were
held at a much higher standard.

immoral president? [Video file]. Retrieved from https://www.youtube.com/

watch?v=I1VvZjploCI

This video highlights the fact that Trump favored and protected the white
supremacist side of Charlottesville and put blame on both sides. Obviously he failed to
call the incident a show of neo-nazis and a blunt attack on minorities. People have
always known Trump to be racist since his campaign, calling Mexican rapists and
wanting to place a muslim ban into action. However, never has Trump expressed such
support for white nationalists as he did during the incidents in Charlottesville, finally
people are asking how should Trump even be covered in the media anymore? A lot of
Trumps previous actions were just seen as normalized, as Trump being Trump. But
Charlottesville created a stir in news anchors and people covering this topic by letting
them express their disgust and shock of how Trump could be so neutral about this
tragic event. I will use this to answer my third question, media is being used to
normalize Trump and make political correctness as a thing you can use or not use.
Either way it makes it seem like someone can be successful without being sensitive
about what they say. If the media simply changed their attitudes and expressed the

concerns of the people maybe being politically correct could be seen as something
necessary for politicians and Trumps presidency would be seen in a whole dierent
light.

This article talks about Trumps war on political correctness, it showcases

examples of why people are really intrigued on the idea of not being politically correct
anymore. Trump says that if we continue to be sensitive and not want to hurt other
peoples feelings, we will never get anywhere and America will continue to suer. He
wants to remove the censorship around politics and thats what makes him seem to
revolutionary and appealing. Hence this will answer my second question, why is being
politically incorrect appealing and growing among voters. The article mentions that if
you want someone to stop talking or to have them seen in a dierent light, you just
accuse the person of being racist or sexist and immediately the politician will shut
down. Since their image and their words are the most important to them, Trump
grabbed that and threw it out the window. Not actually caring about what other people
say about him, and retaliating by saying whatever comes out of his mouth regardless of
how insensitive it is.
