Dear Sir or Madam:
Itis a pleasure for me to write in support of Hannah O, ~ | am a professor for the Department of
Mathematics at Seminole State College of Florida and have had the pleasure of knowing Ms.
during the spring of 2017 in my Calculus | class. She is now, as of the time of ths letter, enrolled in both
my statistics and differential equations classes.
Hannah is a devoted student. In my classes she is inquisitive and eager to leam. She comes to class
well prepared. | have been most impressed with her preparation for the classes. She will come by my
office after the classes, and sometimes before, to clarify any points of issue she might have run across
during lecture or while doing her homework. She has a desire to understand, not just to do well on
tests. Her maturity level of mathematical understanding is remarkable. However, grades are important
‘as well, and she knows that. She holds her responsiilites as a student at a high standard, which can
be seen by her excellent grades in her mathematics courses. She completed the semester with the
second highest grade (A) in my Calculus | course. She attained an A on almost every test when the
averages for the class ranged from a 65 to an 82. Therefore, you can see that she is a very talented
and bright student. So far in the two courses she is taking now, she has one of the highest grades in
each class. She is the kind of student, academically, that | love to have in a class. Besides her great
endeavors at attaining a good grade, she never complains about the class or the requirements for the
class, For example, there were several projects in the calculus course that required deeper thought
than basic homework. She did not email me or come to me upset about the applications of calculus as
80 many of her peers did. | have been highly impressed with her mature attitude about the pace and
expectations of college.
Conceming Ms. Os overall attitude, I cannot say enough about her warm personality. She always
has a smile on her face and has a charming personality not only to me, but to her peers as well. She is
‘always willing to help another student that does not understand a concept. She does so without being
‘condescending and with an appreciation of being helpful. Hannah is thoughtful and mild tempered.
‘When she visits me in my office, she always ends her questions with inquiries based on being a
teacher or other organizational questions. She has a yeaming to know what works to be the best
teacher she cn be in her future. She absorbs the answers which opens her mind to other questions.
Hannah is a pleasure to be around and talk with daily. She, unlike so many students these days, stil
knows how to hold @ conversation and can make a personal connection. She is truly a pleasure to be
around,
Ms. 0. is the kind of student that a teacher desires to have in her classroom. She has truly given me
back my joy of teaching. She is devoted to her studies, she has a warm and polite personality, and she
strives to build community relationships. | highly recommend Hannah in whatever endeavors she may
advance to and | believe she will be an amazing teacher.
