The Aspelta Stelae an analysis study (Elsamani Elnasri Mohamed Ahmed Abuelgasim)

Stelae and inscriptions are considered as the most significant sources regarding to Kushite
history. It remains true that mainly through these stelae we can appreciate and evaluate the
various aspects of life and the political and spiritual features pervading it.
These stelae also reveal basic facts about the kings coronation and shed light on the historical
events that took place during their eras. It seems that these stelae were erected mainly to reflect
propaganda and to justify certain interest.
Aspelta was one of those kings who followed his policy. He left behind four stelae which
contribute widely in revealing many details strongly related to the history of the kingdom. Three
out of these four stelae had been written during his first three regnal years, while the fourth was
not dated.
It deserves noting that the Aspelta stelae were carefully written in a highly convincing and
sophisticated manner. They were distinctive for their prefaces which captivate and lead gently to
accept the text.
