Search for Sci-Math Wizards (SSMW):

General Guidelines:

1. The topics covered for the Search for Sci-Math Wizards are : Biological Science, Natural
Science, Physics, Psychology, College Algebra, Statistics, Geometry, Calculus, General
Information, Current Events.
Distribution of the questions:
40% of the questions are from Science
40% of the questions are from Math
20% of the questions are from General Information & Current Events

2. Each department shall only be allowed to send two (2) groups composing of two
members each.
3. Contestants are advised to be at the designated area of the competition (30) minutes
before the time schedule.
4. There would be three rounds namely: Easy round, Average round and Difficult round.
5. Time allotment, number of questions, and corresponding points are as follows:

6. Before proceeding to the next question, the contestants solely, shall be given an allotted
time of five seconds to request for a chalk or to raise any other concerns. After the
allotted time has elapsed, the quizmaster shall read the next question, thus clarification,
or any concerns shall no longer be entertained.
7. In case of tie after the difficult round, clincher questions shall be given to the contestants
until the deadlock is broken.
8. The top three (3) groups with the highest accumulated scores shall be declared as
winners.
GENERAL MECHANICS OF THE CONTEST (CONTEST PROPER)

The following rules shall be strictly followed:

1. The quiz master shall only read each questions twice (2).
2. Only one answer should appear on the answer board. In case two answers appear on the
board, the answers should be deemed invalid.
3. All answers should be written clearly and legibly on the answer boards. Contestant
should write their answer when they hear the word GO!
4. Wrong spelling and incomplete answers shall not be accepted.
5. Abbreviations shall not be allowed unless permitted specifically in the question.
6. On questions requiring the name of a person, last name shall be accepted unless
otherwise specifically required by the question.
7. Answers that have former names shall be accepted unless otherwise required by the
question.
8. Each questions must be answered by the group. No answer corresponds as wrong
answer.
