I. Course Description

The major goal of this class is to develop the students knowledge of the set of rational
numbers and the basic arithmetic operations with whole numbers, the decimal system, fractions,
decimals, percentage, integers, number theory, and solving simple equations. Measurement and
geometry (angles, polygons, circles, perimeters, areas and volumes) are also covered. An optional
topic on data analysis and statistics includes the measures of central tendency.

V. Class Expectations

1. Please come to class prepared. Be in class on time and ready to learn.


2. Date and head all of your work. This includes notebooks, quizzes, and unit
tests.
3. Write down the question (except word problems) and show ALL WORKING
OUT. Underline or box your final answer.
4. Please do all work in black or blue pen. Use a ruler and use a correction tape
or draw a neat line through any mistakes. All diagrams and graphs are to be
done in pencil.
5. Use class time wisely.
6. Do your homework. Quizzes are taken directly from the homework exercise,
so doing your homework helps ensure success.
7. All quizzes and tests will be graded and given to you promptly. They should
be signed by your parent and are to be placed in a folder. The folder shall be
kept by the teacher and should only be taken home the week before the
Semester Exam.
