Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.

Prior to the SRT activity, the students will review finding numbers that are 10 lesser/greater using tools such
as number lines and hundred charts. Students have already been instructed how to count
forwards/backwards by tens on the hundred chart in a previous lesson.

The teacher will remind students that if an upward arrow is shown (^) that they are to count backwards by
tens, and if a downward pointing arrow is shown (v) they are to count forward by tens. These arrows are
utilized in the SRT.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
Assess prior knowledge Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) To illuminate common
misconceptions Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) Summative assessment of content knowledge Test preparation
Survey/Poll Discussion starter Homework collection Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

This SRT serves as a formative assessment, showing where the students stand with quickly solving and finding
numbers 10 more or 10 less. This SRT quiz serves also as review and practice for the students prior to the
summative assessment at the end of the unit.

Student Response and Assessment Tools

After assuring that all students have a hundred chart in front of them for assistance, the teacher will guide all
students on how to connect to the Kahoot! Game using their devices. Each student will participate in the quiz
individually, not in groups, however if using this lesson earlier on in the unit- groups can be used for support
and practice.

During the quiz, the teacher will be available for struggling students, as well as providing gentle reminders on
ways to think and solve to find the correct answer.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
Multiple choice Multiple select True/False Yes/No
Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):
Game is linked in button above

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?
Yes No
Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)

Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some or all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
Yes
No
Why or why not?
It is important to display the correct answers after the quiz is completed, and go over each question as a
group to reinforce knowledge and answer any remaining questions.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?
After the Kahoot! quiz, the teacher will go over all low scoring questions and they will be solved together as a
class. This provides modeling, and extra review/practice for the students who answered incorrectly. This also
ensures that the students that answered incorrectly are not directly called out for their mistakes.

How will the data be used?
Data collected from this formative assessment will be recorded as a grade. It will also be analyzed per student
and used to create individualized help during math centers. If there are questions that the class performed
poorly on, those questions will be used to guide the lessons in the unit.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. (For example: What are you trying that you have not
tried before? What do you hope to learn from this activity? How do you hope it will help students learn?)

My hopes for this SRT activity is to provide voice to students who may not feel comfortable participating in
class. This will provide me with unbiased data to which I can compose my lessons from. I also hope to learn
how a competitive situation such as this timed and point based quiz affects my students performance.
