COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course provides a comprehensive overview of clinical psychology. Topics include definition of clinical
psychology, its history as a profession, diagnosis and classification of disorders, examination of assessment and
therapeutic intervention techniques and issues related to ethics.
This course is intended to provide information for those considering a career on clinical psychology.

COURSE OBJECTIVES: At the end of the semester, students should be able to:

1. demonstrate acceptable degree of mastery of the basic concepts, principles, research base information of
Clinical Psychology and able to practice the standard operating procedures of assessing patient.
2. practice the value of mental health to human beings and thus provide simple therapeutic intervention.
3. have an acceptable mastery of the course contents that will indicate the students preparedness to pursue
further undertakings in the field of work or in the field of medicine.
