Habilian Association Human Rights Activities

MKO in collusion with American forces in Iraq

A human rights activist says US support for the terrorist Mojahedin Khalq
Organization (MKO) is a proof of Washington's hollow promises regarding the war on
terror.
Seyyed Mohammad Javad Hasheminejad, secretary general of Habilian Association,
said here on Saturday there are indications that MKO is in collusion with US military
forces in Iraq and remnants of Saddam's Baath regime to "address the interests of
America".
Hasheminejad was addressing participants in the international conference on
"alternative global perspectives on terrorism" here in London.
"The US has entered into a contract with the MKO, declaring this terrorist
organization as being protected by the international law," he said, adding that US
double standards in the war on terror has resulted in the protection of terrorists in the
past five years.
He said the MKO camp in Iraq is being guarded by American soldiers, adding that
MKO members are waging a propaganda war against Tehran.
"They manipulate information to portray Iran as the cause of instability in Iraq," he
said.
Hasheminejad noted that the West and United States in particular should revise "their
behavior towards terrorism".
He said American double standards "will finally lead to the disadvantage of the West."
Habilian Association is an Iran-based non-governmental organization seeking to
preserve the rights of families who have been exposed to terrorism. The NGO has
recently released a list of people who have been assassinated by MKO after the 1979
revolution.
It says the MKO is behind the slaughter of 12,000 Iranians in the past three decades.
The international conference on terrorism was held in London Saturday, with Muslim
scholars and international experts from different countries presenting papers on
terrorism in the one day event.
Meeting with head of Britain-Iran parliamentary friendship group

In a meeting with Mr. Ben Wallace, British MP and the head of Britain-Iran
parliamentary friendship group, secretary general of Habilian Association briefed the
British lawmaker about the crimes MKO has so far committed in Iran and elsewhere
and unveiled the evil terrorist nature of this cult. Hashemi Nejad also spoke about the
objectives based on which Habilian was established and said: As the ones who have
lost their fathers in terrorist operations conducted by Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization
during the early years of Iran after the Islamic revolution, we have set up Habilian
Association 3 years ago. We have committed ourselves in disclosing MKO crimes in
international scenes and also the threats this terrorist cult have posed and will pose to
the world especially the western countries. We have focused our domain of activities
mostly in Iraq and until now we have held several meetings with many Iraqi senior
officials about the issue of MKO. We have met with Iraqi president, prime minister,
Iraqi Parliament spokesman and MPs and also many Iraqi tribal leaders in which
meetings and after providing them with our documents, they stated all n accord that
MKO is a terrorist group.
Then he added: Unfortunately MKO has succeeded in penetrating among a group of
politicians in your country and deceiving them the way they consider this group a pro
democratic human rights group without knowing about their bloody history of
violence and terror. As an instance Lord Robin Corbett is one of those MKO
supporters in England who believe in MKO as an alternative for the Iranian
government and claim that the current government in Iran must be substituted by
MKO. But they might have never known that terrorist groups like MKO have killed
over 16000 innocent people in Iran. On the other hand the British government
officially declares that MKO s a terrorist organization but removes its name from the
list of terrorist groups in U.K.
Then Ben Wallace welcomed Habilian delegation in his turn and said: I’m quite
familiar with this group and have until now met some of its members and spoke to
American authorities about them and they have confirmed that MKO is a dangerous
cult.
Head of Britain-Iran parliamentary friendship group also said: A new terrorism act
was unfortunately approved in England based on which a terrorist group is the one
which is at the time involved in terrorist activities or will be involved in terrorism in
the future or would support and promote terrorism. The problem is that unfortunately
this act does not include the groups and organizations which have been involved in
terrorist activities in the past; however there are attempts to amend the current law and
include those groups which have committed acts of terrorism in the past in this act and
this is not merely because f MKO.
He also went n and said: in my point of view terrorist groups are still terrorist but in
British parliament there are members from the ruling party and those from the largest
opposition party, the shadow government, and also the ones in minority who don’t act
as thy say. We suggest that this terrorism act be modified and it is supposed to include
MKO in the terror list once again using the new amendments.
Then Hashemi Nejad notified: It is in critical situations that terrorism would take
meaning and terrorists follow their wicked ambitions this way. Therefore there must
exist groups like our NGO to reveal the nature of such terrorist groups like MKO and
their supporters like Lord Corbett to the world.
After that Ben Wallace explained about the process of legal case in Britain and said:
The judicial system in Britain is quite independent and you can only change a court’s
ruling by changing the law. About Lord Corbett and his group I should say it‘s an
unusual group with irrational criteria and very strange beliefs. They never listen to
their opponents. You should consider the fact that politicians are known in this
country with their party affiliation.
Habilian Secretary General meets Ms. Yvonne Ridley

In a meting with Ms. Yvonne Ridley, a distinguished British journalist who has
converted to Islam after her being captured by Taliban in 2001 in Afghanistan,
Secretary General of Habilian Association disclosed MKO crimes and bloody history
of violence.
In this meeting Hashem Nejad explained the procedures and function of MKO
terrorist cult in Iran as well as Europe. “MKO is a terrorist organization which is
known in Iran as Munafeghin, meaning Hypocrites, and has been active in European
countries under the names like PMOI and NCRI” he said. “A major reason why MKO
has become so impudent in carrying terrorist operations is the West‘s double standards
in facing the issue of terrorism and their biased attitude towards Iran.”
Hashemi Nejad also clarified: abusing such a thing MKO has become able to hide its
real face under the cover of humanitarian rights and to accomplish their ominous goals
and terrorist operations. In my previous meetings with Politicians and media
correspondents from many different countries, I have come to this conclusion that
MKO adopts different procedures based on different situations in different countries
for organizing their terrorist acts and by knowing this we are on to do our best in
making MKO gang leaders be trialed in neutral international tribunals. We have
received serious damages from MKO and are determined to make them face Justice.
Then Ms. Ridley underlined another MKO plot of establishing women’s liberation
army to abuse women more than before. Now I want to know if there are any
possibilities for making a documentary about MKO or to cooperate with international
organizations in this field and get help from human rights groups.
Hashemi Nejad said in response: I think you are now well aware of the issue. This
group has appointed a woman at the top of its affairs to portrait itself as a
humanitarian group, while on the other hand it forces its female members to separate
from their husbands and children and bear very severe mental as well as physical
conditions. Now it seems quite necessary that we put our backs into revealing
different aspects of MKO crimes regarding the fact that the range of their crimes goes
beyond the borders of Iran; therefore other human rights organizations in other
countries should adopt the same procedure towards this terrorist group and reveal the
crimes of MKO to the world.
Lord Robin Corbett, who is a major supporter of MKO, demanded the overthrow of
the Islamic Republic regime in Iran and to substitute it with MKO as an alternative.
You can help reveal such persons to the public.
The eminent British correspondent also said: the dominant atmosphere in western
countries and among the people is against MKO and they are considered a dangerous
cult which lacks any firmness on mind and action and as many historians have
indicated that MKO has killed Americans in the era of deposed Shah in Iran and have
assassinated many Iranian citizens after the Revolution. But the fact is that although
our people are familiar with what this terrorist cult has done in the past and also many
historians have made their crimes public, there’s an obvious discrimination in our
politicians’ attitude towards this group and this issue has become a usual matter in
Europe. I’m so happy about this meeting and exchanging ideas with you over the issue
of MKO. I hope we could have mutual cooperation in this field in the future.
At the end Hashemi Nejad in his part expressed his satisfaction from the meeting and
said: we have very exact and reliable information about MKO terrorist group and
could help you make programs in this field.
Habilian meeting with British Lord

In a meeting with Lord Eric Reginald Lubbock Avebury, a member of British House
of Lords, Secretary General of Habilian Association explained different aspects of
MKO criminal cult. In this meeting the British Lord said: Mujahedin-e Khalq were
removed from the UK terror list due to their pledge to renounce terrorism. Then
Hashemi Nejad pointed out in response that the group has been disarmed by United
States, so they didn’t throw away terrorism voluntarily and willingly. They haven’t
dissolved their army yet.
Besides how could we possibly forget about their bloody history of violence and
killings? What about all those so far 16000 terror victims assassinated by MKO? Shall
we turn a blind eye on them? And one more thing is that w would be willing to see the
so-called commitment you say they have made about renouncing terrorism; because
they have never publicly renounced armed struggle and they still advocate war and
bloodshed on their websites.
Then Lord Avebury underlined the British government’s position towards this terrorist
group and
said: the British government was against the decision for Mujahedin removal from the
terror list but they couldn’t provide the court of appeal with their reasons and the court
of appeals ruling to delist mujahedin was against the will of British government. I ‘m
sure this group has attended the court in a different disguise.
At the end Secretary General of Habilian referred to MKO alliance with Saddam
Hussein and said: They committed terrorist operations until the very last moments of
Saddam in power and reflected them on their websites.
Then the British Lord asked Hashemi Nejad to provide him with documents and
evidences about the crimes committed by MKO.
American peace activists meet Habilian Secretary General

A group of American peace activists met and exchanged ideas with Habilian Secretary
General. In this meeting which was initiated with Seyed Mohammad Javad Hashemi
Nejad’s conveying the viewpoints of the families of terror victims in Iran about the
objectives based on which Habilian was formed, the secretary general said: Habilian
Association was established by the family members of those terror victims who had
been brutally assassinated by MKO terrorist organization in order to lay grounds for
these families to adopt legal measures and open legal cases against the assassins of
their fathers in international communities and also to reveal the terrorist nature of this
terrorist cult to the world.

Hashemi Nejad criticized U.S double standards in facing the issue of terrorism and
addressed it as out of the stipulated principles of international laws. He said: The U.S
attitude towards Iran is aggressive because if it weren’t this way they wouldn’t give
support to an anti Iranian rebel group which is designated as terrorist by the U.S itself;
a terrorist group which lacks any popularity or bases among Iranians.

Pointing to MKO new procedures and clandestine plots in western countries, Hashemi
Nejad also added: MKO manipulates and deceives many of those unaware of its
terrorist entity via setting comprehensive false propaganda.

In this meeting Mark c. Johnson, director of American anti war organization and also
executive director of Fellowship Of Reconciliation (FOR), stated: Terrorism knows no
limits and boundaries in the world and never respects any humane criteria. He said: I
know MKO well and after getting familiar with this organization’s functions and
procedures I have written to the Congress several times to inform them of the MKO
entity and course of actions. Unfortunately some members of Congress back this
group and we are determined in making them change their strategy about MKO.

This human rights activist appreciated Habilian’s human rights as well as anti
terrorism activities and said: The evidences and documents you have gathered about
the MKO numerous crimes and also the information about the victims of MKO
atrocities in Iran would help us and the U.S government to know their real face better
than before.

Stating the viewpoints of his organization Johnson said: We aim to speak about peace
in the world and your documents would help us with the problems we have in
informing the congress about this group.
Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb was another speaker to the meeting. She is the program
coordinator of Interfaith Inventions, Inc. and one of the first women in Jewish history
to become a rabbi, and is featured as one among 150 stories in Jewish Heroes and
Heroines of America (1996). She is also cofounder of Muslim- Jewish Peace Walk.
Ms. Gottlieb also expressed his appreciations toward Habilian’s humanitarian
struggles and this non governmental organization’s enlightenments and said: I’m so
happy to Meet Habilian representatives especially Mr. Hashemi Nejad. No wonder the
documents you have provided us with would be very useful and would help us
disclose the crimes of MKO terrorist group for the government and people of
America.

She also added at the end: I promise all the families of victims of these
crimes to defend their rights and to publicize Habilian’s documents.
MKO will split up in the near future

Secretary General of Habilian Association, a human rights NGO which includes the
families of martyrs of the assassination, predicted to see Mujahedin-e Khalq terrorist
group split in the near future.
Speaking to the correspondent of the Political Section of Fars news agency Seyyed
Mohammad Javad Hashemi Nejad stated that many of the senior officials of this
terrorist group know their leader, Massoud Rajavi, responsible for the tragic situation
the MKO faces in Iraq at the present time.
The Secretary General of Habilian Association also referred to another crisis the
criminal cult has to face in Iraq, explaining that experience has shown the inability of
the United Nations for the maintenance of such a cult in Iraq, where the criminals
could not make it under the umbrella of the Red Cross or the UN High Commissioner
for Refugees.
He believed that the support U.S. occupying troops give to this organization in Iraq is
due to the inability of the international organization for the protection of these people
and that their leaders refuse to be supervised by the Iraqi government.
Hashemi Nejad Turned to his meetings with officials of the UNHCR, the UN refugee
agency in Geneva, adding that he had briefed them on this issue, but that they stressed
that there is no link between them and MKO and the Commission would grant refuge
only to the individuals approved by the International Red Cross.
This political expert insisted that the goal of MKO leaders from staying in camp
Ashraf, Iraq is the use of their elements as a way to pressure the Islamic Republic of
Iran.
MKO a threat to the Europeans

In a television interview wit Sahar TV station, Secretary General of Habilian

Association Seyyed Mohammad Javad hashemi Nejad disclosed new aspects of MKO
crimes and also the current status of this terrorist group. Here are the details of this
interview.
Q- Mr. Hashemi Nejad as the secretary general of Habilian Association, please tell us
more about this data base site you have on the net. What is it dedicated to? And tell us
about the responses you’ve had.
A- In the name of God the Compassionate the Merciful. Habilian Association has
stated its activities about 3 years ago and the reason for the establishment of such an
NGO was that although our country has been now more than 20 years victim of
terrorism; but no deserving measure was adopted in this field and against terrorist
activities of the groups like MKO for several reasons. One is that the leaders of MKO
were dispersed around the world until 1986 but from then on they were relocated to
Iraq while Iraq was formally in war with Iran. There they started cooperating with
Saddam Hussein and killing the children of Iran who were defending their country. At
that time we couldn’t find possibility (as the family members of terror victims) for our
activities against MKO until the issue of fighting global terrorism was posed by the
United States after September 11 attacks. Americans started the so-called war on
terrorism under the pretext of wiping terrorist groups like MKO which where at
Saddam’s service out of Iraq; but what we witnessed in Iraq was quite on the opposite.
Americans not only didn’t shut down any MKO bases in Iraq but also they changed
into the main supporter of this notorious terrorist group in Iraq using it as a lever
against Iran for achieving their wicked ambitions and following their wrong policies
in the region. It was at this time that we deemed necessary, as the remaining people of
the victims of terrorism which have their high statistics of victims in Iran, to create a
non governmental organization to talk to the world as the remaining family members
of victims of terrorism and to work on the global public opinion and inform them of
MKO terrorist operations and crimes and also let them know about why America is
supporting such a terrorist group. One of the important things we managed to do is
that we have gathered statistics about the victims of terrorism for the very first time in
Iran. Unfortunately we realized that over 16000 people have been victimized by
terrorist groups out of which great number over 12000 were directly killed by MKO.
When MKO realized that we do have statistics about their terrorist activities, they
confirmed the number of people they had killed. We have so far met with many Iraqi
officials including the Iraqi president and prime minister as well as ministers and
members of parliament and along with those activities we have sat down with
different Iraqi groups. As a matter of fact we managed to visit about 60 different Iraqi
groups from different tribes during the past year. We have also informed them of the
dangers the existence of MKO terrorist group might pose in Iraq.

We told and provided them with documents about MKO terrorist activities inside Iraq.
We have even delivered documents about the genocides this terrorist organization has
committed inside Iraq especially in Kurdish regions in northern Iraq and also in
southern Iraq against Shiites. Interesting is that there is a great hatred among the Iraqi
authorities and different groups toward this group and they are very much against the
existence of such a terrorist group in their land. More interesting is that nearly all the
Iraqi officials we met stated that their constitution does not allow the settlement of this
group in Iraq; but unfortunately there are hands, especially Americans hands, behind
the scene and are holding this group as a lever against the people of Iraq. You know
this organization has right now basically transformed its activities into espionage for
the United States and Israel against Iran.
I think at the moment that as America doesn’t have enough levers against the Islamic
Republic of Iran, it’s supporting this terrorist organization.
Q- Mr. Hashemi Nejad please tell us about why did Mujahedin-e Khalq turned to
terrorism?
A- The Mujahedin-e Khalq organization from the very beginning of its formation was
based on the idea of terror and terrorism. It had a strategy of terror and terrorism on
which the organization was founded before the Islamic Revolution in Iran and soon
started conducting terror operations against the regime of Shah. After that they were
dispersed and many MKO members were arrested and executed by Shah; but they
started forming again and since their ideas were a combination of Islam and Marxism,
this group started to stand against the main school of thought of the Islamic
Revolution from the very beginning. They started confronting The Islamic Revolution
in Iran; but soon realized that they can not obtain power in this situation. Therefore
they took arms against the people and resorted to armed struggle hoping to create the
possibility of pursuing their aims by creating fear and terror among the people of Iran;
but their plots failed by the massive presence of people and they were forced out of
the country by people. After that they started forming cells and terrorist cells by
conducting terrorist operations inside Iran as well as in western countries. It didn’t
take a long time that the westerners soon understood that they can not possibly count
on MKO; so the group moved to Iraq and became formally a part of Saddam’s army
and started fighting against their own people.
That’s why there is a great hatred from the people of Iran against MKO because at the
time their enemy had attacked their country this group assisted the enemy.

Q- Mr. Hshemi Nejad what is your assessment of Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization’s

current status?
A- Since MKO is a terrorist-in-nature group and the fact that a terrorist group is
always living in a critical situation and the more secure and stabilized the atmosphere
is the more problems and difficulties they would encounter, therefore as soon as
Americans came and based in Iraq this terrorist group focused its efforts on two
things. One was to create animosity between Iran and Iraq the same path Saddam
Hussein followed during his era in power. They started to create a rift and some kind
of conflict between the people of Iraq and Iran and on the other hand they started to
create the same situation between the Iraqi government and the Americans to put them
in front of each other. You might have heard that the security of MKO base in Iraq
named camp Ashraf is recently being handed from American forces over to the hands
of Iraqis and the MKO is trying to portray that if anything happens like that the Iraqi
government might hand them over to Iranian government and that they think they
would be in great danger that way; but the Iranian government has repeatedly
announced during recent years that it would give amnesty to those repenting MKO
members who want to return to their country and that non of those who hadn’t
participated in the group’s terrorist operations would be tried if returned to Iran. We
don’t have a single report from the international communities and organizations that
any of those dissociated members were abused by Iran. This is the atmosphere they
are going to create and I think the issue of MKO is an international issue and their
genocides are beyond the borders of Iran. Inside Iraq and among the Iraqi people
there’s a great hatred against MKO and many believe that the members of this terrorist
organization have to be tried in an impartial international tribunal as war criminals
especially for Massacre of people in Iraqi Kurdistan region. Now the issue of their
expulsion from Iraq is something which is decided upon. Right now the main and
perhaps the only existing terrorist base in Iraq which is under the protection of
Americans is MKO base. Since 1998 and after being defeated by Iranians when
attacked Iran under the direct order of Saddam Hussein, they changed into a cult in
order to maintain their parasitic presence in Iraq. They ordered men and women to
separate; they ordered mothers and children to be separated from each other and
gradually the members started to turn into tools and robots who only obey what they
were ordered to do by their leaders. Right now the MKO terrorist cult is a real threat
and a serious danger for the western countries. The issue of their threat against Iran is
now for years solved by Iranians themselves. As a potential threat they have spread in
European countries and penetrated in many organizations. An example of what
tragedies they can create is that in 2003 MKO ordered ten of its members to set
themselves on fire in different European cities for protesting the arrest of their leader
for merely 2 days. This is what we warn European countries about.
Q- How do you see the feature of MKO? What will the future hold for this terrorist
group as far as you’re concerned?
A- A part of MKO future is what we have witnessed during past 5 years. They never
imagined an Iraq without Saddam Hussein. They are now in their worst conditions and
no country is ready to accept them and I think they would remain their dispersed
status. I’d like to remind you of a statement by the UN secretary general that says: The
world is getting more and more restricted for the terrorists. Although a few countries
are still supporting terrorist groups clandestinely; but we have to accept that the
phenomenon of terrorism is an innovation of western countries and that terrorist
groups design their operations in western countries.
Habilian Association, as the representative of the families of terror victims, has
adopted several legal measures against MKO terrorist group in international
communities and we would see the result of which in near future.
UK Legislators Briefed On MKO Crimes

Secretary General of the non-governmental organization, Habilian Association briefed

British parliamentarians about the crimes committed by the Mujahideen-e Khalq
Organization (MKO).
Mohammad Javad Hasheminejad who visited Britain to participate in the international
conference on ‘Alternative Global Perspectives on Terrorism’ during his one-week
stay in London met with representatives of the House of Commons and House of
Lords and presented documents on some of the crimes committed by the banned
group.
“In the meetings with British lawmakers, officials of the civil society and human
rights organizations, we realized that some of them do not know much about the
terrorist operations and inhumane track record of the MKO. After talks with them,
some requested that they be allowed to cooperate closely with Habilian and exchange
information about human rights issues and fighting terrorism,” he told IRNA in
London.
He went on to add, “Unfortunately, given the free activities of the MKO in some
western countries, the group has managed to influence some parliamentarians and
politicians in these countries who do not know much about its terrorist background.
Those who even knew a little about the MKO’s terror network were shocked when we
presented documentation about murder of 12,000 people in Iran by the group and its
terrorist activities in other countries, including Iraq.”
Hashemi Nejad also met the press in London.
“In the meetings, we briefed the journalists about the dangers posed by terrorist
groups for the human race and urged them to cover news and information about the
operations of the MKO in an unbiased manner,” he noted.
British lawmakers removed the MKO from the UK’s list of banned terror groups on
June 22.
Legislators then approved the decision by the Court of Appeals, which had ruled in
May that the MKO should no longer be listed as a proscribed group. The MKO has
committed acts of aggression against both Iranian and Iraqi nationals and remains
banned by the European Union and the United States.
According to Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, the terrorist groups has
killed over 16,000 people in Iran most of them by MKO terrorist mercenaries,
including one president, a prime minister, four ministers, dozens of parliamentarians,
and senior officials.
Terror victims’ families protest at UK deproscription of MKO

Representatives of the families of thousands of Iranian victims brutally assassinated

by the MKO terrorist group have visited Britain to protest about the government's
decision to remove it from its proscribed list.
The relatives, led by Seyed Mohammad Javad Hasheminejad, presented reams of
documentary evidence of the MKO's hideous crimes to officials at the Home Office
and Foreign Office as well as the Islamic Human Rights Commission during their
visit.
Hasheminejad, whose father was assassinated by the MKO, said that it was
"surprising" that while U.S. and European courts were reviewing the group's terrorist
label; it was still claiming responsibility for killing more innocent people.
The British government proceeded to remove the MKO from its proscribed list under
the Terrorism Act 2000 in June, despite ministers publicly proclaiming that they
disagreed with the decision.
"The MeK (MKO) was responsible for a series of vile acts of terrorism over a long
period. They have never publicly renounced violence and only gave up their arms in
the face of the overwhelming might of US forces in Iraq," Foreign Secretary David
Miliband said.
The visit to London was organized by the Habilian Association for terror victims'
families, which has recently compiled a comprehensive list of all the victims of more
than 1,000 bombings, hand grenade and mortar attacks and assignations carried out in
Iran by the MKO.
The association told IRNA that it was planning to legally challenge a London court
ruling that led to the MKO being deproscribe under terms legislated by the
government but which has the right to amend.
"Iranian people would consider the UK Court of Appeal's decree to remove the MKO
from the list of banned organizations as an unfriendly act," it said."
"No doubt, the escalated tension between Iran and the West plays a role to keep the
MKO on the scene as an instrumental use against Iran," Habilian said, questioning
whether the removal was really in the UK's national interests.
