Abortion has been a very controversial topic for the last few years. Some say abortion should be
legal,

and others say it shouldnt. Many people believe abortion is considered murder, which is why
its been

a serious debate for many people. I believe abortion should only be legal under certain
circumstances

like rape or health issues.

Usually abortion is used by young teens who have an unplanned pregnancy, rape victims, and
mothers

who cannot support their child. I believe that abortion should only be legal under certain serious

circumstances. For example, women who were raped and women who carry a child that could

Potentially cause death to either person. Reports indicate that there are approximately 1 million

teenagers in America that become pregnant each year. Of those, 78% are unintended. Of all the
teenage

women that become pregnant, 35% choose to have an abortion rather than bear a child. This
indicates a

problem in the amount of sexual activity with teens, and ultimately the decision made once they
find out

they are pregnant. This means that millions of lives are not born, this could be prevented if
teens

practiced abstinence.
 Another reason why it should not be legal is because abortion can cause death.The procedure
of

abortion is highly unregulated compared with other invasive medical procedures. The Centers for

Disease Control and Prevention reports that from 1973 to 2010 over 400 women who underwent
legal

abortions in the U.S. were killed by the procedure. Dr. Janet Daling and her colleagues
conducted a

study funded by the National Cancer Institute to explore the connection between abortion and
breast

cancer. They found that a womans risk of developing breast cancer was 50% higher if she had
had an

abortion. If a woman had had an abortion in her teenage years, then the risk was 100% higher.
Not

only can abortion have a chance to kill a woman once, but the chances are twice as high for
cancer.

In conclusion, Abortion should ONLY be legal if it causes serious issues in either the mothers
life or

the baby and in rape cases . I think most of us can agree that abortion is a awful thing and that

is has come to this point.

However since it has,I think that life works in mysterious ways and bad things can happen. I
believe that

anyone should have the freedom to make choices on their health.
