MasTec (MTZ) 7
What to Do Next 10
The predictive ability of the Zacks Rank cannot be denied. In fact, since 1988, if you invested
in Zacks Rank #1 stocks, you would have averaged a gain of +25% per year. This perfor-
mance has been examined and attested by Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP,* an indepen-
dent accounting firm.
Now, in this report, youll receive highlights on 7 stocks from the more than 200 companies
that compose the coveted Zacks #1 Rank List. Remember only 5% of all stocks covered by
the proprietary Zacks Rank system have the promise and potential to beat the market in
the next 30 days like these Strong Buy stocks.
Inside this report, youll discover the company financials, earnings data and analysis of
these 7 promising companies.
The company has recently purchased over $152 million worth of new containers. In addi-
tion to this huge chunk, they have plans for another $227 million. A growing fleet with
high utilization means their EPS could continue to grow for the next several years. Three
analysts have come out recently and increased their estimates for the current quarter, next
quarter, the current year and next year.
Revenues fell 2.7% to $313.2 million, but it was at the high end of the companys guid-
ance. Analysts are liking what they are seeing and getting more bullish on the company.
Although sales are expected to drop by about 2.2% this year, they expect a rebound of 3%
in 2018. By 2018, analysts expect the company to be back in the green as far as earnings.
The stock has jumped 39% year-to-date.
The company topped forecasts by 33% but most of the attention was paid to the $1.2B deal.
The Zacks Rank is focused on the movement of earnings estimates. The Zacks Consensus
Estimate only has a number for FY2018, and that estimate has been moving up. Roughly 90
days ago the number stood at $1.12 but following the big earnings beat, the number moved
higher to $1.36.
The stock just absorbed a lot of uncertainty surrounding the Gulf hurricanes, where both
energy projects in Houston and telecom projects in Florida could have been impacted more
severely. Now that the damage is being assessed, its seen that rebuilding efforts can now
be a boost for MasTec. As estimates stand right now, MasTec looks poised to grow the top
line by over 16% this year and the bottom one by 45%. Next years revenues are projected
to grow by 6% to $6.34 billion.
Management also stated that they are starting construction this month on new Tyler Texas
facilities, and that their new facility in St Pauls North Carolina is now operating at three quarters
capacity and remains on track to reach full capacity in January of 2018. Over the past 30 days
earnings estimates for Q4 17, Q1 18, FY 17 and FY 18 have all seen significant upgrades.
The company also upgraded its guidance for the third quarter. Analysts have been raising their
estimates for the company after stronger than expected results and updated guidance. In
addition to a top Zacks Rank, the stock has Zacks Style Scores of A for Momentum while the
Semiconductor--General Industry is currently ranked 3rd out of 265 Zacks Industries (top 1%).

December 31, 2016 and was examined and attested by Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP, an independent accounting
firm. These returns are from hypothetical portfolios consisting of stocks with Zacks Rank # 1 that were rebalanced
monthly (see additional details regarding rebalancing below) with zero transaction costs. These are not the returns of
actual portfolios of stocks. Zacks Rank #1 stock-rating system returns are computed monthly based on the beginning
of the month and end of the month Zacks Rank #1 stock prices plus any dividends received during that particular
month. A simple, equally-weighted average return of all Zacks Rank #1 stocks is calculated to determine the monthly
return. The monthly returns are then compounded to arrive at the annual return. Only Zacks Rank #1 stocks included
in Zacks hypothetical portfolios at the beginning of each month are included in the return calculations. Zack Rank #1
stocks can, and often do, change throughout the month. Certain Zacks Rank #1 stocks for which no month-end price
was available, pricing information was not collected, or for certain other reasons have been excluded from these
return calculations. The S&P 500 is an unmanaged index. Visit www.zacks.com/performance for information about
the performance numbers displayed above.
