Overall aim and context of the lesson: 1PA2 copy, continue and create simple repeating
patterns

Choose two aspects from the competency areas to evaluate and discuss
(one paragraph each) according to following:

1. discuss one aspect that you feel you did very well. Try to
analyse why you think it worked well and what hints you would
share with other teachers about the successful strategy/
resource/activity/management style etc.

Positive aspect of the lesson:

I feel that I did very well when I teach

-introducing about the patterns, give examples of shapes and show real examples in the
class.

- Explaining about the key vocabularies (pattern, repeat, copy, continue), modeling how to
copy by draw two shapes and copy them.

- Showing the meaning of continue by let the students participate with me and create a
clapping pattern. For example, the first student clapped once and the second clapped
twice and I asked them how we can continue this pattern and I asked them Should I clap
one time or two times to continue the pattern.

- Giving the students opportunity to copy, continue and create simple repeating patterns.
Let them share their answers with the whole class and reinforce them positively.

- Making the activities appropriate for the students' level of thinking.

- Demonstrating how they can copy or continue their patterns using the manipulative.
(Emerging, developing students).

- Providing real examples of pattern like fruits to make or create their own patterns in
plates (master students)

- Correcting the mistakes that the students might do with copying or continuing or
creating their patterns.

- Checking for them and go around them to observe their works.

2. elaborate on the aspect identified by you that requires

attention. Discuss what the problem was, why it occurred and
what action you intend to take to be more successful in the next
lesson.

Requires Attention:

The problem was missing the closing which it was an assessment for the students.

3. outline the personal focus and goal of the next lesson

Personal focus for the next lesson:

I need to put a timer in order to know when I suppose finish or when I will start
the next thing that I will teach it. I need it as well to inform the students that they
have a specific time to complete their tasks and finish it on time.
