Meaning of the Constitutionalism:

According to Concise Oxford Dictionary:

Constitutionalism is adherence to a constitutional system.

(Here constitutional carries a similar connotation as the expression rule of law.)

Other meanings:

A system which is the antithesis of an arbitrary system.

Constitutionalism comprises both internal checks and external limitations which together ensure
that governance is not only non-arbitrary but is also responsive to the needs and aspirations of
the people.
