• The BD™ Home Sharps Disposal by Mail system includes a
sharps container, postage-paid return box made of heavy-
corrugated cardboard, and packaging materials to safely send
the filled sharps container through the mail. The cost includes
the pre-paid postage and the incineration of the sharps.

pharmacies do not yet stock this item, you may have to ask
your pharmacist to order one for you.

Comments
• Sharps containers are available in sizes from one quart to five
gallons. When it is full, the container is packed it in a pre-paid
mailing carton and sent via United States mail. Medical waste
will be sent to an EPA-approved facility, and a registered
tracking report will be sent back for customer records.
• Medasend charges a 1-time fee of $49.95 to first time
customers. Once paid, this fee includes free life-time shipping
with Medasend. Typical container prices are in the range of
approximately $38 (for a one quart sharps container system
that holds about 20-40 used syringes) to approximately $60
(for a two gallon system that holds about 280 syringes). Prices
include waste disposal and shipping both ways.
Comments
• The VOYAGER disposal unit can be used for diabetic syringes
and most lancets. (Note: disposal container only; see next
paragraph for information about mail back option). The used
needle/syringe is inserted into the top of the container until it
stops. By twisting the container top, the used needle and a
small portion of the syringe barrel are safely separated and
contained within the VOYAGER container. The remainder of the
syringe barrel is destroyed and no longer useable. The unit,
which will hold over 100 needles, is available by mail (for
