Task-Based Language Teaching Lesson Plan on English 7

I. Objectives:

At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:

1. Define and identify antonyms and synonyms.


2. Give the synonym and antonym of a word.
3. Acknowledge and appreciate the similarities and differences of their classmates through
synonyms and antonyms.

III. Procedure:

Time Allotment Activities


A. Pre-Task
10 minutes Activities: 2 Pictures 1 Pair and #FindAFriend

I. 2 Pictures 1 Pair
Mechanics:
Activity sheets are distributed in 1:1 ratio
The activity is composed of 5 items
Each item has 2 different picture and in each picture there are blank boxes
that the student will fill with letters using only the letters provided in the
letter box to identify what the picture is.
Example:

II. #FindAFriend
Mechanics:
Activity Sheets are distributed in 1:1 ratio.
The activity is composed of 5 items
Each item has a picture and beside the picture is the box of
different words
The student will pick from the box the first 3 closest words that
describe the picture.
Example:

Friend Enemy Playmate

Confidant Workers

Independents Traitors
7 minutes I. During Task
Activity: OPEN DISCUSSION AND SHARING
Procedure:
After answering the two activities from the pre task the students will share
in the class what they have observe in the pair of words in activity 1 and
activity 2.
Synonyms and Antonyms are introduced.
Student will orally give a word and he/she will call his/her friend to give the
synonym and the antonym of the word.

7 minutes II. Post-Task


Game: Who Am I
Mechanics:
1. In a sheet of paper each student will write their name and two adjectives
that describes them as a person physically, emotionally, mentally or
spiritually.
2. They will roll the sheet of paper and put it in a box
3. Each student will then pick 1 rolled paper from the box.
4. The student will give the synonym of the first adjective and the antonym of
the second adjectives. And below the paper, students will write this
statement:
I am __________ and I am happy to be your friend.

2 minutes III. Generalization


1. Antonyms are words that mean the opposite of another word.
Examples: dependent and independent; silent and loud; colorful
and dull
2. Synonyms are words that are similar or have a related meaning to another
word.
Examples: big and huge; explore and discover; make and create

3 minutes IV. Valuing


Acknowledging and appreciating similarities and differences of everything and
everyone. We might have similar and opposite attributes, appearance and beliefs
from other people but what matters is that we are able to understand and make
good relationship with everyone.

1 minute V. Assignment
S.A. Crossword Puzzle

Direction: Complete the crossword puzzle by filling the blank boxes with
appropriate synonym and antonym of the underlined words in the
sentences provided.
