and beverages, and an appearance by Clifford The Big Red Dog. Special presentations by

The 2010 Mentorship Event – Tues, 9/21, 4‐5:30pm, Concordia College Birkeland Alumni
Lounge (located in the Offutt Concourse). Remember your mentor during college? Or do you
wish you would have had one? Here’s your chance to take charge and help area college
students jumpstart their career. Hosted by the YPN’s Mentorship Committee, this event will link
young professionals with Fargo Moorhead college students. Learn more about how you can be
a mentor and attract the newest talent to your organization. Keynote speaker Daphne Meyers
will talk about the importance of mentorship and how we all benefit when we mentor others.
Meyers is the Director of Sales at the Holiday Inn of Fargo and teaches an event planning course
in the Mass Communications department at MSUM. There is no cost to attend this event but
registration is required. Refreshments and snacks will be provided.

SHAMELESS PLUG
• MSUM International Student Services Friendship Family Program ‐ Host families needed! The
Friendship Family Program is an opportunity for international students to experience American
life ‐ to create an extended family through social bonds, bringing the members together through
communication, daily activities, outings, sports, etc. It is also an opportunity for Americans to
have cross‐cultural experiences and learn information about different countries and cultures
from natives of those places. The objective is for international students to see a typical U.S.
home. Students do not stay within the home, but participate in activities and outings. Residents
in the F‐M area are encouraged to participate as a host family. For more information and to

• Katie Lewis Photography is offering portrait sessions for the week of 8/22 – 8/28 for $200 and
includes a disc of at least 20 high resolution images. Children/Baby, Family and Couples sessions
are included in this special. Senior sessions are not included. Sessions are 1 hour and must take
place within Fargo/Moorhead. This is a great opportunity to get your holiday card pictures done

• Cards for Kids ‐ Purchase 12 kid‐created note cards to help support great futures for area youth.
By purchasing these cards, you are contributing to programs that help all children in area Youth
Commission/Boys and Girls Club programs learn and grow in a safe, positive environment. Each
package of 12 blank‐inside note cards costs just $15 and contains two each of six lovely and
inspiring designs created by children in our programs. Cards are available at all three Youth
Commission/Boys and Girls Club locations (2500 18th St. S., Fargo | 4809 University Drive S.,
Fargo | 215 10th St. N., Moorhead), and at Riverzen (315 Main Ave, Suite 101, Moorhead) and
ShortPrinter (3005 Main Ave, Fargo). [NOTE: Retail locations may add a small processing

soda and ice cream, with proceeds benefiting military families in need. A color guard will be
there along with a military band and a military vehicle display.
