Overview of the project

St. Elizabeth Parish Library

After careful contemplation of the objectives of sustainable living I decided that the St. Elizabeth

Parish library was the ideal place to educate individuals of the benefits of a sustainable living and

also for me to model some of the ways to do so.

As a result on December 12 and 19, 2015 between the hours of ten (10) am and one (1) pm I

decided to engage in the above mentioned activities. I taught children/persons to read and to use

computers, donated a drum for a recycling project, filed library books and educated persons and

children of the relevance of culture in living a sustainable lifestyle. Also, I shared with persons

some of the many benefits of living a sustainable lifestyle.

It was a delightful experience to engage in this work of sharing with persons the importance of

sustainable living and the importance of education in this process and the students and persons I

engaged were receptive and benefited greatly from what the experience.

Aims of the project

The aim of this project was to educate the staff at the St. Elizabeth Parish Library and persons

utilizing the library services of the plethora of benefits of a sustainable living. This would be

educative because persons would be shown the vital role that education plays if a sustainable

living is to achieved. Hence, persons would share with their friends and families what they learnt

about sustainable living so as to have a better Jamaica where more persons aim to live

sustainable.
Key Objectives

For the successful completion of the project several objectives had to be outlined to the

administration as well as the participants of the project. As a result the following objectives were

coined to ensure that the intervention was impactful:

To inform persons about the concept of sustainable living and its importance in todays
