Summary of Three Web-Based Instructional Resources

Plickers

Plickers is an application use for saving all the teachers information. The quizzes or work done
by the teacher can be shown live for the students. As well teachers collect each students data without
using any other devices.

Ways teachers might use this application is by having all their lesson and work for the students.
Also, keeping track of each students grade, from there knowing what needs to be improved. As well
creating quizzes or so, and putting them live to do them with the students.

Kahoot

Kahoot is an application that makes quizzes, has discussion, and surveys. It is more of a game for
the class because students have a code and answers the questions. Also, it is a technology base
application use with computer and smartphone.

Ways teachers might use this application is use it as a preview before a test. Also, teachers can
see according to how the students answer if they are understanding the material. Teachers can use it to
change the classroom around to do a fun quiz game.

Nearpod

Nearpod is an application that can be used in many ways. It creates presentations and
assessments for students to learn. As well teacher can upload lesson to the app, so students can see
them.

Ways teachers can use this application is by uploading their own quizzes and prestations. They
can connect with the students interactively by using polls, images, drawing, or videos. Also, use it to
assign homework or previews before a test.

VA Standard of Learning

Standard 3.9 Strand: Earth Patterns, Cycles, and Change Science Standards of Learning Curriculum
Framework 2010 Grade Three Page 30 3.9

The student will investigate and understand the water cycle and its relationship to life on Earth. Key
concepts include

a) there are many sources of water on Earth;

b) the energy from the sun drives the water cycle;

e) water on Earth is limited and needs to be conserved.

Overview This standard introduces students to the movement of water on Earth by evaporation,
condensation, and precipitation, which is called the water cycle. All the water on Earth is part of the
water cycle. Water is stored in ponds, lakes, streams, rivers, ground water, and oceans. Water is
essential to maintain life on Earth and should be conserved as a natural resource. It is intended that
students will actively develop and utilize scientific investigation, reasoning, and logic skills (3.1) in the
context of the key concepts presented in this standard.

Cite the standard (VA SOL Science 3.9, Math 8.3, English 8.5, or Civics 8).

Synopsis of the Learning Experience

For this assignment I use Kahoot where students take a quiz and can compete. In the finish
product I included 10 question quiz, a Bill Nye water cycle video, and a picture of the water cycle. At the
beginning it has a description about what the quiz is going to be about. As the students take the quiz
they have 30 seconds to complete it. However, as this product isnt individually before they start the
quiz the video will start playing, so they get a review. The way I would incorporate this quiz in a lesson is
after we talk about the water cycle I would divide the class into teams. When I divide the class into
teams they would compete, and I would see if they understood the topic. This activity will entertain the
student and have them communicate to test their knowledge. Also, I could do it individually, but with
the whole class. I will put the answers in a big screen, for students to answer on their own with
computer or phone.

In this assignment I learned new websites to do quizzes on, which I never knew about. It was a
great experience forming quizzes on my own instead of using Microsoft word. These websites are easy
access to do quizzes, however they do take time to do them. A challenge I faced was knowing how to
work the website; even though I saw videos before I had to figure it out and know if I was doing it
correctly. Next time I use this application I probably would not put a video before the quiz start because
it repeats itself while waiting for other players. As well try other option it offers.

Evidence of the completed product.
