Learning Experience
What are you planning in Mixing and Creating Colours

In order to add onto the childrens curiosities of mixing colours, I - Label your experience will implement an experience where children will be able to (e.g. Painting with concretely mix colours to see what new colours they will produce. cars). This experience will take place in the morning, after outside play - What are your 3 objectives for this both during carpet time as well as during small centers time. I will experience? I will provide the children with plates which have little dots should refer to of several colours of paint on them. I will also provide them with appropriate pedagogy paper so that they can mix colours on a concrete material which to support your discussion around they can take home. Objectives:
1. The children will (Belonging and Contributing 31.3)
explore different elements of design in visual arts, as they will be able to physically mix several colours with their fingers, and visually see the new colours that they create. By understanding that single colours can create new colours when combined, children will be exploring a diverse element of design through colour (The Kindergarten Program, 2016, pg. 154). 2. The children will (Demonstrating Literacy and Math Behaviours: 11.6) use prior knowledge to make connections and help them understand a diverse range of materials, as they begin to understand that single colours can create new colours when combined. For example: a child may understand that red and blue are single colours, and once they mix these two colours together they create purple. The child will use their prior knowledge of the single colours to understand which two colours make purple when mixed (The Kindergarten Program, 2016, pg.209). 3. The children will (Self-Regulation and Well-Being: 8.4) demonstrate control of small muscles while working in a variety of learning areas, and when using a variety of equipment, as they use their fingers to carefully mix certain colours together while keeping them separate from the rest of the colours. The children will carefully mix colours together without creating a large blob of all of the colours, so that they can clearly observe the new colours they have created (The Kindergarten Program, 2016, pg. 180). Teaching Strategies:
Questions:
I will ask children questions at the beginning as well as during the
experience. Asking them questions will encourage them to actively think about the experience, and come up with their answers. Firstly, I will ask a question such as, What colour do you think we will make if we mix these two colours? Questions like this will encourage the children to think about what they know, and connect it to what they have yet to learn. During the experience, I may ask a question like What colour did we actually create when we mixed these two colours? Questions like this will encourage the children to see and determine the names of diverse colours.
Behaviour Reflections:
I will use behavior reflections so that the children can recognize
their actions, as well as have an emotion toward them. For example, I love the way you mixed blue and red to make purple! Letting a child know that they created that colour will allow them to be aware of their accomplishments and feel proud of themselves. Another example of a behavior reflection I may use is, I like the way you raised your hand to answer my question. These reflections allow children to be aware of their behaviours as well as encourages positive behaviours.
