1. How would you respond to someone who made the following statement
Organizational culture is not important as far as managers are concerned?
Explain.

Ans:

Organizational Culture includes the organizations vision, values, norms, systems,

symbols, language, assumptions, beliefs and habits .Organizational Culture refers to
the values and behaviors that contribute to the unique social and psychological
environment of an organization. It represents the collective values, beliefs and
principles of organizational members. Culture speaks to the identity of an
association, impacting both worker fulfillment and authoritative achievement. It
communicates shared suppositions, qualities and convictions and is the social magic
that binds an association. An organizational is characterized as the mutual
presumptions, qualities, and convictions that guide the activities of its individuals.
Organizational Culture has a tendency to be molded by the organizers' values, the
industry and business environment, the national society, and the senior pioneers'
vision and conduct.

Every business has an authoritative culture regardless of how enormous or little. A

business can casually build up a society without the directing hand of administration
or proprietorship, or the organization can make its own particular society utilizing
an arrangement of qualities and execution principles. In an organization the role of
the manager in an organizational culture relies upon how the business needs the
director to interface with different representatives and the amount of power the
business gives the supervisor. It is significant that supervisors at all levels know
about their parts and obligations in maintaining positive work environment situations
that can build worker fulfillment. Disappointment is the real reason for turnover and
can have negative expense and natural consequences for the organization. Directors
must understand their capacity in setting up and keeping up an association's way of
life. The dispositions, qualities and practices of an establishment start with its
authority. This is done through part displaying and correspondence at all levels.
Pioneers shape and fortify society by what they pay consideration on, how they
respond to emergencies, Leaders shape and strengthen society by what they pay
consideration on, how they respond to emergencies, how they act, how they
distribute prizes, and how they contract and fire people.

The managers of an organization must not overlook the significance of being steady
while communicating these states of mind, values and coveted practices. Whenever
one or a greater amount of these parts are missing or are powerless, the association
will inevitably endure.

2. How would you define the functions of organizational culture? What are the
various manifestations of organizational culture?

Ans:

Generally speaking, society advantages associations by expanding authoritative

responsibility and the consistency of worker conduct. Organizational culture serves
to an unmistakable qualification between the association and the others in the
business. The method of working in the association will be diverse that to its
opponents. The way of life gives a sense of solidarity among the representatives; it
spreads a feeling of character to the association and its individuals. The
representatives may be originating from various social and ethnic foundations and
the thoughts and the belief systems of these people will be ocean separated however
with regards to the working of the association the organizational culture ties them
together and inspires them to give better responsibility to the association yielding
the individual's advantage. Culture is the element which ties its representatives
together giving them a character.

Organizational culture is the outcome of the traditional functions of an organization.

It is a complex social system. A healthy culture gives healthy functions of structure
and process. It denotes the friendly, flexible and innovative climate of an
organization. We can find the following points about the functions of organizational
culture which are explained as below:

a. Culture enhances Cooperation

Culture enhances cooperation among the employees and management in the
organization by providing shared values and assumptions. Culture may
enhance goodwill and mutual trust encouraging cooperation.
b. Communication
Culture reduces communication problems in two ways in an organizations:
No need to communicate in matters for which shared assumptions
already exist (things go without saying)
Shared assumptions provide guidelines and cues to help interpret
messages that are received
c. Culture facilitates recognition.
Every organization is recognized by its culture. It is a known fact whenever
we name an organization we immediately remember the culture attached to
the organization. Organizational culture sets the boundary beyond which
employees are not permitted to go. Employees of an organization
automatically adopt the cultural limit of their organization. A number of
organizations are well recognized by the culture.
d. Justification of behavior
Culture helps organization members make sense of their behavior by
providing justification for it.
e. Culture provides opportunity to set the standards of Performance
Organizational culture provides employees to get an opportunity to set the
standards of performance. They try to achieve the standards. It becomes a self-
control mechanism which helps the organization to grow and flourish.

Cultural differences show themselves in various ways and varying levels of

profundity. Symbols speak to the shallowest and esteem the most profound
indications of society, with legends and ceremonies in the middle.

Symbols are words, signals, pictures, or questions that convey a specific

significance which is just perceived by the individuals who share a particular
culture. New images effectively create, old ones vanish. Images from one specific
group are consistently replicated by others. This is the reason why culture speaks
to the furthest layer of a society.
Rituals are collective activities, sometimes superfluous in reaching desired
objectives, but are considered as socially essential. They are therefore carried out
most of the times for their own sake (ways of greetings, paying respect to others,
religious and social ceremonies, etc.).
The center of a culture is framed by qualities. They are expansive inclinations for
inclinations of certain situation to others (great malicious, right-wrong, regular
unnatural). Numerous qualities stay oblivious to the individuals who hold them.
In this manner they regularly can't be examined, nor would they be able to be
straightforwardly seen by others. Qualities must be induced from the way
individuals act under various circumstances.
Symbols, legends, and ceremonies are the substantial or visual parts of the acts
of a society. The genuine social significance of the practices is impalpable; this
is uncovered just when the practices are translated by the insiders.

Our OBL class comprises of students from various social, social values and

comprehended and worked with by instructor.
Teacher dependably concentrates on the performance. Our Instructor is
concentrating on the execution of the students, their conduct, values and
learning state of mind.
To dodge from high level of instability shirking the educator must be arranged
with every one of the answers and will be constantly prepared for any inquiries
from the students. So, Teacher is viewed as master in his field.
Teacher is constrained towards expanding the students general execution.
This is on account of students are more worried about accomplishing results
other than enhancing their execution.
