Jaatakaadesham

a) 5th lord being a male, with strength and in Male Rasi or Male Navamsa
b) All the above (a) for Jupiter
c) 5th house
d) 5th house should fall in male rasi or male navamsa
e) all the above should associate with a friendly or own planet or benefic plant
All the above indicate male children. opposite indicate female children.

Jaatakadesham
Speciality of Karkataka Rasi if it is Putra bhava (5th house).
Saturn confers many male children
Mercury - alpa putra (very less no of children)
Moon - more of female children than males
Jupiter - only female children
Venus, Sun, Mars - will have marry again to be get children

If more than one is associated, then the result should be assertained from the strongest.
Kanya, Vrishchika, Vrishabha, Simha are alpa putra rasi. Meaning there shall be few male
issues or children in general. this is more so if they are devoid of strength.

You shall find each of the above verse relates very well in this case. Karkata is 5th house
from Chandra lagna while Kanya is from Lagna. Both are Stree rashis. Mercury the 5th
lord from lagna is placed in Vrischika - stree rasi. Karkata is having Jupiter (special
condition - verse 2)

All these point to female issues only in this case.

How to determine no of children? There are infact more than one pointer here.
A) Jupiter is exalted in the 5th. The number alloted to an exalted planet is 3. So this
points to 3 children
B) Mercury (5th lord) is placed in Vrischika - dwiswabhava rasi and the number alloted
to Vrischika is 2
c) Mercury is the 2nd Navamsa - again the number is 2
the number of children should be seen from the number of navamsa of 5th lord. the
number of purusha rasi in those navamsa indicates number of male children and stree rasi
indicate number of female children. In those the navamsas, the male issues shall be
destroyed if the navamsa lord (purusha rasi) is in the navamsa of stree rasi and vice versa.
However, the strength of navamsa lord should be assertained before determining the
death of children.

This verse make it very clear and confirms the above. Mercury in the 2nd navamsa.
However, while Jupiter indicates 3 children, Mercury indicates 2 children. The confision
will arise because, the first navamsa id Karkata - stree rasi and the 2nd navamsa is
purusha rasi. so according to the verse itself, there has to be a male child also. But it did
not happen Why? The answer is simple. The second navamsa is having Gulika in it and
the planet there Mars is aspecting the mercury. Mars is killer and it shall kill once. This is
also from classics. from this we could surmise that though the native had the yoga to have
3 children and probably one male out of them, it could have been lost due to abortion etc
and could enjoy only two. Additionaly the navamsa lord of the second Navamsa - Sun is
debilated - devoid of strength. this also concurs well with the verse. Since jupiter is in
the 3rd house of Sahaya sthana / sahodara sthana, do you know if any one has been
particularly instrumental in his rise, perhaps a lady, sister etc? Just wondering.

Further what are factors that indicates 2 children, status of father etc. Then see the
relative placement of Venus and Saturn in Sashtastaka- 6/8 position. Obviously both
Venus and Saturn are weak and their position of 6/8 is the real combination which has
lifted the native. Kindly refer the sloka 29 and 30 in the Uttarakalamrita,

Gist: Saturn and Veus should be weak; they should be in 6/8 position; even they may be
associated with 6th and 8th lords. If these two planets happen to be malefic for the
specific lagna, then the good results will be immense. This topic i had previously
discussed with suresh ji. I am pasting it for your information. I have not quoted from
authentic script. This from the book of K.N.Rao

Analysing horoscopes through modern techniques Pg:340 which says "According to

Uttarkalamitra if Saturn and Venus are both strong and becomes yogakaraka results of
their dasha and antar are very unfavourable. Under such conditions the native will be as
good as a beggar even though he may be rich like kuber. But if one is strong and another
is weak the native will enjoy good results according to character and strength of stronger
planet. If both of them be weak and are posited 6, 8 and 12 or one of them is situated in
6th or 8th place place or another, or they own any dusthan or are posited there or
associated with lord of dusthan the results of their dasha ao antar will be exceptionally
good. Saturn and Venus dasas as given by Kalidasa in Uttarkalamitra Venus and Saturn in
their mutual sub periods give good results if they are in 6, 8, and 12 from each other or in
conjunction in such houses, with one or both debilitated or a malefic for the horoscope.
This rather amusing and seemingly paradoxical operation of Venus and Saturn is an
exception to the general rule. But venus and Saturn are close friends as is obvious that
each one is yogakaraka in Capri and Aqua lagna and Saturn is yogakaraka in signs wuth
lagna of Venus Taurus and Libra" Sir based on your personal experience do you find this
particular clause to be correct I have not seen such exceptions mentioned in the standard
classics.

Venus Dasa - Saturn Anthara

These are verses pertaining to the 6/8/12 position of Anthara lords from the Maha dasa
lords. Both doesn't mention such exceptions. However, in the Prasthara Ashtavarga of
Venus, Venus gets one point in the 8th from Saturn And in the prasthara Ashtavarga of
Saturn, Saturn gets one point in the 6th & 12 from Venus. Hence, this idea might have
generated from the above assumption. That is During the Dasa of Saturn if Venus is
placed in the 8th its anthara might be good So also, In the Dasa of Venus the anthara of
Saturn if placed in the 6 or 12 from Venus might be good. NB: I have not seen this view
as pramana in any works. It is possible that I may have overlooked them. But have
scanned many of them. Further, There is verse that says Venus confers wealth & fame if it
is placed in the 6th or 12th of lagna. If we consider this, then the effect should be
reversed for the dasa. In general, though the above argument is not considered. Only the
first is taken. If you have seen authentic scripts referes, kindly post them.

I must thank you for pointing out the source of this assumption. I am giving below the
slokas quoted in Uttarakalamritha. The conditions that are mentioned here
A) Both the Saturn & Venus should be equally strong
B) They should be in Exaltation or own sign or Vargottamamsa
C) Both should be yoga karakas
If you look closely at the above, you will find that the third condition exists
for signs owned by Saturn & Venus Ie: Makara, Kumbha , Vrishabha &
Thula. Both do not become yoga karaka TOGETHER for no other signs.

so the question now is whether this rule is applicable for the above sign only.
Since the "tathaiva" is used, it is sure that for conferring the effect as mentioned, all the
conditions must satisfy. That is it is not enough if any of the above conditions are met.
Finally the whole effect depends upon on one factor
Strength of Saturn = Strength of Venus.
Strength of planets is according to shadbala.
from the above we can see that the chances of occurence of satisfying all the conditions
are very rare. Also we have to keep in mind that this is not applicable to other 8 signs.
D) one is strong and the other is weak. The result is given as
"yogadaH".
Strictly speaking this word simply implies that any one will confer effects attibuted to
them, which need not be always good also. The logic here might be that when two planets
have equal strengths both gets cancelled. This view is mentioned where it is said if two
exalted aspect each other, the person lives in poverty. In the Dasa scheme also this rule
could be applied to some extant and with caution.
In this verse the conditions are
If the above two planets are
A) occupy 12 - 8 - 6 signs without strength
B) or they are the lords of 12 - 8 - 6 signs
C) or they are associated with the lords of 12 - 8- 6 th signs
The native shall be confortable & happy even if one of them is disthanadhipathy.
It should be noted that it is not mentioned whether the 12-8-6 is from lagna /chandra or
from the dasa lord.
D) Even if one of them is the lord of an Ishta bhava & the other dushta bhava
(12-8-6) they shall confer great confort during their dasa & sub periods.
The conditions (B) & (D) indicates that this could be applied to any of the 12 signs.
The only condition that may be common here the strength of both which should be very
LESS. Yes this seems to be unnatural effects of two planets that are natual friends and
yoga karakas. A word of caution: Uttarakalamritha is NOT considered a authentic work
particularly in kerala. This is basically an interpolation work, thories taken from other
works like Parasara Hora, Jaimini etc. But the biggest issue some of the exception stated
both the sages has not been incorporated in this work. Hence it is adviced to be vary
carefull when appying these in real situations. It is neither a pure work on Astrology
alone, because there many chapters pertaining to rituals not related with Astrology.
In the case study chart, the LL Venus is in his own Moolatrikona house but afflicted by
Debilitated Sun and Ketu. Ketu as such in 6th is a positive aspect for facing the
challenges. But the see the placement of Retro Saturn in Pisces. The dispositor Jupiter
owns 8th house also. Then see the relative placement of Venus and Saturn in
Sashtastaka- 6/8 position. Obviously both Venus and Saturn are weak and their position
of 6/8 is the real combination which has lifted the native. Kindly refer the sloka 29 and
30 in the Uttarakalamrita, Gist: Saturn and Veus should be weak; they should be in 6/8
position; even they may be associated with 6th and 8th lords. If these two planets
happen to be malefic for the specific lagna, then the good results will be immense. No
doubt the VenusMD/ Saturn AD which was running during 8/5/1999 to 9/7/2002 was the
period of bounty enjoyed by the native. (This is true only when they arein 6/8
position .In normal circumstances, the VenusMD/SaturnAD or SaturnMD/VenusAD
would give disastrous results.) Further the upachaya places are fairly filled with suba
grahas which has enhanced the rise of the native. This is my humble opinion. If I am
wrong somewhere, kindly guide me. This is the chart of my college friend.During venus
dasha he started his career as a sales man in good company. From 1999 onward he started
growing in the company. He build his own house traveled around the world. In 2002 he
became the vice president of the company. He is happily married well settled with 2
daughters.

Looking at his chart ie venus is 6th from lagna 8th from Chandra. No doubt venus is
lagnadhipathi placed in moolatrkona but can that be the only reason for his phenomenal
growth. Even his present sun is in neecham still he has no problems. The only bad
incident happened to him was he hit a peadestraian while driving his car who died. Now
that case is also closed. In his final years of graduation he got selected in NCC for
defence but he failed in the final year and hence lost the opportunity to join defence.
Probably sun in neecha could be the reason. His father had affair with some other woman
and was staying sepearately but financially supported them. His mother was employed.
