I am keen to begin a fast-track career as an account manager with a progressive and
innovative organisation that values clients and offers good career progression.

Relevant Work Experience


July–August 2008
Two months’ work experience with Condé Naste
• I initially work shadowed a senior account manager before being given my own
accounts to look after.
• I shadowed experienced account managers at client meetings.
• I wrote proposals for my clients.
• I gained valuable commercial experience – I needed to know what was happening
within clients’ organisations so that I could assist them in the best possible way.

November 2007–current
Commercial business manager, Campus Speaks (university newspaper)
• I was elected as the commercial business manager to spearhead making the paper
a commercially self-sustaining enterprise following the university's removal of
funding.
• Within the first three months I successfully secured £6,000 sponsorship to ensure
production for the next 12 months.
• I negotiated advertising packages with clients, at the same time negotiating
discounts for our university’s students with these advertisers.

April 2007: Young Business Leaders’ Workshop, London


• I attended a young business leaders’ workshop over a four-day period. I
networked with key business representatives, participated in interactive
workshops and group sessions and gave a short presentation on my future goals
on the final day.

September–May 2007: Phones4Everybody, senior sales assistant


• I was responsible for running the floor and managing a team of eight people.
• I consistently out-performed my personal sales targets.
• I ran training sessions for new members of staff.
• I dealt with customer queries and complaints.

Interests
• I’m a member of the Young Performers’ Musical Society. In the last two years
I’ve held lead roles in The Mikado and The Sound of Music. I’ve also worked on
the marketing and promotions side of the organisation.
• I sing in a local church choir.
• I’m an active member of the university’s hiking and rambling society.
