India is a nation of a billion people.

A nations progress depends upon how its

people think. It is thoughts which are transformed into actions. India has to
think as a nation of a billion people. Let the young minds blossom-full of
thoughts, the thoughts of prosperity.
--- India 2020[1998]

The above words are taken from a book of dreams rooted in reality. Its an imagination resting
on facts and belief in Indian people. Our nation is as diverse as one could imagine. May that be
in terms of landscape or human culture and traditions. Its a nation of all major religions of the
world. Being a home to 22 languages, written in 13 different scripts with over 720 dialects
spoken all around the nation it is no less than a horrendous task to get us all united under one
flag. And thats what makes us special.
Talking about history we can conclude pride for ourselves. Its high time we peeked in our future
too. Estimating the gravity of tasks that lay ahead of us for achieving what is supposed to be a
vision for a great nation is the need of the hour. Lets leave the judging and debating on Indias
past for historians. We should rather focus on where is India going? What would it be like in
2050? A question, honestly, only time can answer. Evolved with higher conscience we have lost
the ability to leave things on time. So, lets estimate.

1. Population issues: As we think about a beautiful India as 2050 arrives I wonder

would it be really beautiful as over population is undoubtedly steadily increasing. At this
rate it is not far when we shall surpass China to become the largest populated country
and democracy in the world. Our nation is set to emerge as the largest consumer. It
wont be easy to feed such a huge population.

2. Literacy rate in India has been improving in previous decades but the quality of it
might see a decline at higher education level in future. People in metropolitan cities are
already finding it hard to enrol their children in primary standards of schools. The fact is
we dont tend be very productive. Most of our fellow citizens fall into the dogma of
society and do not look for their inner talent. Engineers, doctors and lawyers are
produced in every corner with fairly lower standard of understanding. The theme of soul
searching and thinking out of box to be whatever one actually wants to be is slowly
gaining pace. Yes, we can expect our nation to be in hands of a more mature and
versatile people in next few decades.

3. Life expectancy of an avg. Indian changed from 41years in 1960 to 69yrs in 2016.
Thus we can conclude a better standard of regime has been installed in our daily
routine. Pharmaceutical industries and major developments have played an important
role in controlling mortality rate. One can expect this field of science to grow further
and theres absolutely no doubt in increment of our sustainment period on this planet
only if we strike a balance with natural environment.

4. Communication and internet: There has been a bump rise recently. There is
no doubt it is the digital age and India is not far behind in it. Out of 1.3 billion people in
the country approximately 740 million mobile connections are active ones. The age of
internet has dawned on the biggest democratic nation on this planet. Of all the factors
promoting it, Reliance Jio service has accelerated the use promptly. By this rate one
could safely assume that no family in this country will remain unconnected by 2050.

5. Demography: Currently Indian population is mostly young as the 50% of India

population lies under the age of 25. In upcoming years there is no shortage of labour
force available. Indian youth seems inspired by its PM at the moment. It is motivated,
full of energy and enthusiasm. A proper guidance and leadership can help realize India
its dream of being a self-sustained and independent nation.

6. Sex ratio: Current sex ratio of India is approximately 933 females per 1000 males. In
upcoming years, we can expect the inclination in literacy rate and hence increment in
female ratio per male. Government is worried and its policies tend to encourage the
public towards solving this crisis.

7. Climate change: About all the questions the biggest one is of climate change!
Nations around the world have eyes on Indian policies regarding this topic of urgent
importance. After all, behaviour of this nation, which is supposed to become the most
populous nation, will play a major role in determining the course of the planet earth.
Rivers are becoming polluted on day to day basis. Glaciers, the source of
major rivers in northern plains, are melting due to global warming. The rivers
which used to flow inland to sea eventually are drying up in middle. Govt. of
India needs to take some important measures regarding it.
The nation seems to be on its way to already follow its recent accords
and convert major portion of its energy source into clean source of solar energy.
Although deforestation at the same time cannot be ignored. Population control
measures again come into picture or it might become really difficult to
accommodate and feed such huge population without more innovative projects
and jobs productions, which seems rare and unwanted in upcoming age of
automation.

The future of India is not in despair. It is in the hand of its strong and diverse youth.
India is the most versatile country on this planet. Yet its every citizen comes together under the
same flag and act as one whenever needed. Keeping its communal intolerance aside people
seem to come together every time their motherland needs them.

Youth of our country is going to shape the India 2050 and lets hope they take into
account the big picture of dream of their forefathers and work accordingly. As long as its people
are united India has a bright future and no other power can cast a shadow on it. So, let us come
together and work towards making our forefathers dreams a beautiful reality.
