1 GENERAL INTRODUCTION
Europrogetti S.r.l. is a company located in North-East of Italy offering more than 30 years of
design, and management experience in water treatment plants and purification of waste, civil and
industrial water, using high technology solutions. We offer the most advanced solutions and
technological developments for the installation of waste water treatment plants, including the
possibility of recovering up to 90-95 % of the treated water, with low management costs. We can
even recovery part of raw materials employed in the industrial process..
In this field, Europrogetti designs and proposes technologies that are the more suitable for the
solution of the specific problem.
WTT India is in charge of the installation, start-up and management of the process, with provision
of O&M and consulting services for both plants realized by the group and existing plants that need
technical and economical improvements (revamping).
Europrogetti S.r.l.s goal is to plan the most advanced technological and scientific developments for
their customers, in order to install purification plants, with the possibility of recovering up to almost
the 100% of the treated water, with the lowest running costs. Alternatively there are plants able to
guarantee zero discharge, recovering all the water used in the production process and integrating
various processes such as: biological treatment, with or without dinaitrification, followed by quartz
filtration and UF,MBR sistem, special resin filtration, reverse osmosis with several steps, nano
filtration, wind evaporation and MEE.
We have extensive experience in purifying water coming from various sectors, such as tannery,
textile, food and chemical industry, slaughter houses, paper, drinks, etc. Particularly, we are
specialised in the field of industrial discharge, for example, on waste from the textile sector: we can
define ourselves as LEADERS with 380 working installations all over the world. In this sector we
were the first to propose recovery of purified water using special long-life macro-porous resins.
Applying these resins after the biological treatment, we can completely eliminate the residual colour
and dramatically decrease the COD value. The management costs of biological treatment and our
sand and resin filters are very low and very competitive against any other system, allowing the
reuse of water at extremely low costs.

Chemical products are not used and absolutely no toxic residuals are generated. The entire process
is carried out in full respect of its environment with low running costs, that cannot be obtained
through other systems.
The use of the biological process for the reduction of the main pollutant parameters, such as COD,
BOD5, colour, TSS, Surfactants, TKN, phosphorous, etc., allows to avoid high chemical-physical
sludge production, that is toxic and maintains forever its toxicity.
For this reason, chemical-physical sludge management requires an high control system for its
storage, in order to absolutely avoid any dispersion and/or washing-out, that would produce larges
environmental pollution problems in the closed areas and not only.
EUROPROGETTIs solution, successfully applied for more than thirty years, counts on minimize
the quantity of produced sludge and reusing it for both electric energy production (from biogas) and
organic fertilizers production for agriculture use, without any environmental damage.
Our plants have a water treatment capacity between 50 and 300.000 m/day. Our plants treat a total
of over 800.000 m of discharged water each day, which is equivalent to a population of 8.500.000
(a country like Belgium or Sweden). All over the world, Europrogetti S.r.l. offers the experience of
high performing technical staff who have over 400 clients and more than 30 years experience of
planning, and managing waste water treatment plants for civil or industrial discharge. Europrogetti
currently works in Europe, China, Central and Southern America, North and South Africa, Middle
East and Asia, India, Bangladesh.

treatments:
1.1 CIVIL AND MIXED WATER TREATMENT

Our company designs and realise civil plants or civil-industrial mixed plants for different flows,
applying the most advanced technology, including nitrification-denitrification and
dephosphorisation of discharges. We can install sludge treatment processes using biogas to reduce
the sludge quantity and recover energy. The sludge produced from the process is entirely biological
and does not contain any harmful chemicals. We propose a composting treatment for the sludge to
reuse it in agriculture. In civil water treatments EUROPROGETTI SRL. offer the possibility of

recycling the final water for industrial use. There is also the possibility of conditioning water from
rivers or wells to be distributed to the water supply.
1.2 INDUSTRIAL WATER TREATMENT

Our technical personnel have participated in the planning, realisation and starting up of more than
380 industrial plants in the following sectors: textile, tanneries, paper mills, food, drinks, sugar
cane, milk mills, production of concentrated aromas and juices, slaughter houses, production of oils
and margarines, detergent factories, alcohol, etc. It is now possible to recover up to almost the
100% of the treated water, at very low costs. We can install systems to recover heat in order to
produce energy savings. We can use the smoke from the boiler as an agent to acidify the alkaline
discharges, with notable acid savings and CO2 reduccion
In the industrial field, we guarantee that the final quality of the discharges is completely in line with
local standards and the most rigorous international standards, and that the running costs are
absolutely the lowest on the current market. Alternatively there are plants able to guarantee zero
discharge, recovering all the water used in the production process and integrating various

processes such as: biological treatment, followed by quartz filtration, special resin filtration, reverse
osmosis with several steps, nano filtration, wind evaporation and MEE.
Weve also important experience in the realization of wastewater treatment plants with limited
available spaces. In order to solve this problem, we first realized specific technologies both for
water discharge and for treated water recovery.
Actually, were developing most up-to-date technologies, such as MBR (Membrane Bach Reactor),
in order to always guarantee best working standards.
1.3 INLET WATER TREATMENT

In this field we have experience in softening, demineralisation, deferrization, decarbonisation,
filtering plants etc. We can propose both resin ionic exchange plants and reverse osmosis with
double pass, for the production of water for boilers. We also have experience in water conditioning
plants for water to be used for the preparation of drinks, beer, etc. In these cases we have realised
conditioning plants with active carbons, ultraviolet rays, with and without chlorination of the liquid.
We can also realize conditioning plants for civil water with chemical-physical systems or with
membranes, or specific applications such as arsenic removal from waters intended for humans use,
with leading edge solutions that allow to guarantee arsenic concentration values lower that 100 ppb.

2 TECHNICAL-ECONOMICAL CONSIDERATIONS ON THE

TECHNOLOGIES FOR CIVIL EFFLUENTS TREATMENT
Since some decades, it has been developing some technologies in civil effluent treatment which are
supposed to improve the final quality of discharges and to be capable to keep running costs to such
levels to be considered economically interesting.
Part of the technological development is due to the fact that discharge parameters are even more
demanding, in order to guarantee a better respect of the environment. As consequence, the process,
machineries and solutions have to improve themselves in order to guarantee required performances.
The proposal that we present has different, innovative aspects, both in the qualitative content of the
water and in the reduction of the collateral effects, such as odours, noises, re-use of the residual
sludge, etc.
3 WATER RE-USE
This can probably be the most interesting part of the process.
We can guarantee the discharge of water with such a quality and characteristics that is possible to
think a re-usage of the same in various fields:
Irrigation: both for green recreational and agricultural areas. With a final step of disinfection,
you can bring bacteria limits till the point of being able to reuse this water for the irrigation.
Industrial use: many industries do not need an excellent quality of water in their processes.
Sometimes a simple filtration, together with an ultra-filtration, can be enough to guarantee the
quality for the industrial reuse: paper-mill, concrete factory, leather industry, car washes, etc.
can use these qualities of the water without any problem.
Cooling: with the use of nanofiltration membranes, we can further improving the quality of the
water, in order to make it reusable in the cooling circuits, both in industrial and civil.
Moreover, this water can be used in systems such as fire-fighting etc. The running costs are
absolutely in line with the purchase of water, with the same characteristics of the public net.
Examples of these applications are already working since some years, with absolutely positive
results both from the economical and technical point of view.
