OLD Objectives of Senior Scouting

Under this Senior Scouting program and within the purview of the BSP Objectives, the Senior Scout will:
1. Participate in meaningful teenage activities that will develop, in a progressive manner, desirable
personal values such as honesty, trustworthiness, industry, and perseverance.
2. Plan and conduct/participate in socially-oriented events/activities to enhance his social acumen
for cooperation, teamwork, and coordination.
3. Manage activities and people, developing his leadership skills in the process.
4. Join crew activities designed to develop positive attitude towards, and respect for ladies and
elders.
5. Practice the virtues of resourcefulness and creativity through outdoor projects.
6. Conduct community service projects designed to deepen his concern for the upliftment of the
environmental conditions in his community.
7. Plan and participate in vocational exploration activities that will open his eyes and mind to the
necessity of planning his career path.
8. Engage in outdoor expeditions and hikes to broaden and deepnen his knowledge and skills in
self-reliance and independence.
9. Undertake a variety of challenging physical and mental activities which contribute to self-
development.
10. Initiate self-directed personal activities in his everyday life to inculcate and imbibe the spirit of
the Scout Oath and Law in himself.
11. Engage in emergency service projects to foster love of, and concern for, persons and nature.
12. Make sound decisions and choices affecting his life directions within the ambit of the Specialist
Ratings aspect of the Program.
13. Show his adherence and devotion to spiritual and religious tenets through participation in
religious activities in his community.

THE AIM AND OBJECTIVES OF SENIOR SCOUTING

The Senior Scouting Program of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines aims to provide a
safe, enjoyable, exciting and challenging learning environment for young people ages 13 to
17 years old to practice responsible citizenship; unit and sub-unit management and
leadership competencies; service to others and the community; hone outdoor skills for self-
reliance and independence; and character development.

SENIOR SCOUTS SHOULD BE ABLE TO:

Character and Personal Development


1. Internalize value system based on the Scout Oath and Law and the Scout Ideals as
personal code of living;
2. Value desirable Filipino traits, positive attitudes, customs and traditions such as
honesty, trustworthy, industrious, perseverance and respect for ladies, women,
elders and persons with disabilities;
3. Undertake a variety of challenging physical activities that will help promote active
and healthy lifestyle among young people;
4. Show adherence and devotion to spiritual and religious beliefs, with respect to each
others own faith and through active participation in the church and communities.
Skills for Self-Reliance and Independence
1. Plan and participate in activities related to the progressive scheme and badge system
that helps provide guidance in career path planning and vocational endeavor;
2. Participate in safe, fun-filled and challenging adventures, outdoor exploration,
camping, and hikingto develop ones skills on campcraft, woodcraft, and emergency
service for self-reliance and independence; and
3. Undertake interest-based specialization program on Air, Land and Sea Scouting
activities.

Leadership for Life


1. Enhance interpersonal relationship and leadership skills in managing and leading
membership in small groups and the outfit;
2. Engage in critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills through
communication, youth forum, dialogue workshops in the Outfit leadership
organization;
3. Hone innovation, creativity and resourcefulness through varied team building games
and group dynamic exercises;
4. Participate in youth involvement initiatives through non-academic and socio-civic
engagement and empowerment to promote teamwork, unity and cooperation.

Responsible Citizenship
1. Undertake community development service and projects that are responsive to the
needs and concern for people, save and protects environment and natural resources;
2. Promote and cooperate with other organizations and agencies the value of
nationalism, patriotism and civic-consciousness to help contribute in local, national
and international communities in building a culture of peace and progressive society.
