Goals:
Students will learn melody to Liturgical Fanfare
Students will successfully execute articulations for melody
Students will practice improvisation on the melody

Strategies:
Teach melody by rote
Model melody (vocal modeling and instrumental modeling)

Written melody (if needed)

Procedures:
Teach Melody: (4 minutes)
*Teacher plays do-re-me-fa-sol
Starting on concert Eb
*Students echo do-re-me-fa-sol

*Teacher plays melody for students


Think about solfege syllables
*Students sing back melody

*Teacher plays first two measures of melody


*Students Echo Melody
Ask to listen again for articulations

*Teacher plays last two measures of melody

Ask to listen again for articulations

*Teacher plays whole melody
*Students play melody with notes and articulations in mind

Improvisation: (6 minutes)
*Change articulations
*Students get one accent to put on one note in the melody
*Listen for where neighbor put accent
*Change rhythm of the first two beats keep the last two beats the same
*Play with different Dynamics
Assessment Strategies:
Split students into groups allowing to assess a few individuals at a time
Listen for syllables while singing
