5. Calculators, including scientific calculators, are allowed provided they are not
programmable and cannot store or recall information. All other electronic devices,
including mobile phones, are not permitted.
6. Candidates who break ABE Examination Regulations will be disqualified from the
examinations.

You must answer all four questions in this section.
You should spend approximately 30 minutes on each question.
Q3 When starting a business there are a variety of areas that need to be addressed in order for
the business to have the potential to succeed.
(a) Explain the personal qualities an entrepreneur will need in order to set up a business.
(b) Explain the types of resources a new business start-up would need before launch.
Using a self-assessment technique of your choice, identify and explain how an entrepreneur
can evaluate his or her personal skills.

how the theory can be applied to motivating small numbers of staff in a newly-formed or
developing business.
