PROJECT ASSIGNMENT OBJECTIVES:

1.) To develop students technical knowledge and practical computer skills required by future employers.

2.) To use computing methods and new technologies with confidence over a range of appropriate software tools
and to respond quickly, effectively and efficiently in a constantly changing technological environment.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon successful completion of the subject, students will be able to:

1. Implement cost control procedures to consider alternatives and make well-reasoned recommendations
promptly.

2. Make use of the appropriate software as a tool to complement their skills and knowledge in their discipline of
study for example in the preparation of Bills of Quantities and Estimating.

ASSIGNMENT BRIEF

This assignment is the integration between Measurement 4 and Software Application for Quantity Surveying
modules. Each student has been assigned to measure certain elements and prepare a Bill of Quantities in
Measurement 4 module.

Therefore, the students are required to produce their own individual Bill of Quantities complete with rates for
Software Application for Quantity Surveying assignment using Buildsoft.

TASK

Prepare a complete Bill of Quantities (EOX and POX files) by using Buildsoft comprising the items below:-

1) Bills of Quantities; with necessary descriptions, quantities and conversion codes.

2) Price build-up and necessary material, labour and machinery rates with necessary supplier quotations as
support documents.

Please submit your bill of quantities template with items (in both in hardcopy and softcopy**) below:-

1) Complete BQ with quantities, descriptions and units.

2) Price build-up.

Notes (**) : Your softcopy shall be compiled together with your group members (as assigned in Measurement 4
module).

Assessment Criteria

The students will be assessed by identifying as follows:

1) Ability to do billing in proper sequences, headings and/or sub-headings, presentation of items.

2) Ability to provide good descriptions and calculation breakdowns.
3) Ability to provide accurate rates and price build up.

Breakdown of marks:

1) Bill of Quantities Format 5 Marks

2) Complete descriptions & measurement - 5 Marks
3) Price build up 15 Marks
