Directions for the Establishment of Bank SinoPac Encouragement Student Aid

in National Cheng Kung University

Approved by the President of NCKU on October 19, 2017

Article 1
In order to encourage students with outstanding performances in National Cheng Kung University
(hereafter as "NCKU"), lessen their burden while they attend NCKU, and enable them to
concentrate fully in academic studies and technical innovations, Bank SinoPac (hereafter as
"SinoPac") has created the Encouragement Student Aid (hereafter as "the Aid") and created these
directions for applicants to follow.

Article 2
Criteria for the application of the Aid:
Graduate students and undergraduate students of NCKU who meet all of the following conditions
may apply, with the exclusion of freshmen, students attending in-service programs or credited
courses in continuing education programs, suspending students, and students postponing
graduation.
(1) Local Residents:
1. Taiwan Citizens
2. Students with an average academic grade of 80 (A-) and above, a conduct score of 80 and above
in the previous academic year, who has never gotten an admonition during the time he/she
attends NCKU.
(2) International Students (including Overseas and Mainland Chinese Students):
1. Non-Taiwan Citizens
2. Undergraduate Students with an average academic grade of 70 (B-) and above, graduate students
with an average academic grade of 80 (A-) and above, a conduct score of 80 and above in the
previous academic year, who has never gotten an admonition during the time he/she attends
NCKU.

Article 3
The number of recipients and the amount of the Aid:
1. Number of recipients: 25 Local Residents and 25 International Students every academic year. If
the number of applicants approved to receive an aid fall short of the allowance in this academic
year, the remaining can be added to the allowance of the next academic year.
2. Amount of the Aid: Each student receives a total amount of $80,000 NT dollars with $40,000
being given in the first and the second semester respectively.

Article 4
Period of Application Submission:
Application submission period is subject to the annual announcement.

Article 5
Application Procedure: Applicants should submit the following within the period announced.
Students from Taiwan will submit the applications to Student Assistance Division, Office of
Student Affairs; Overseas and Mainland Chinese Students will submit the applications to Overseas
and Mainland Chinese Students Affairs Division; International Students will submit the applications
to International Student Affairs Division. Recipients of the Aid will be announced and notified at
the end of November each year.
(1) Application Form
(2) An original copy of transcript of all semesters (including doctorate, master's and undergraduate
programs)
(3) An original copy of certificate of enrollment
(4) A photocopy of National Identification Card or Resident Certificate
(5) A photocopy of the front page of applicant's Postal Passbook
(6) Other certified documents or information that facilitate the reviewing.

Article 6
Applicants that meet any of the following conditions will get bonus points in the reviewing process:
(1) Local Residents:
1. Students from underprivileged families: Please enclose Certificate of Low-Income Households
issued by the municipal Bureau of Social Affairs.
2. Children of Special Families: Please enclose Letter of Approval issued for Family Assistance in
Special Circumstances
3. Children of Indigenous Families or New Immigrant Families: Indigenous people. Either of the
applicant's parents is a foreigner or a new immigrant, legally staying in Taiwan with household
registration.
4. Recommended by the Dean of College.
5. Certificates of special merits: Certificates of Merit, patents owned, thesis published or
certifications and licenses, etc.
(2) International Students (including Overseas and Mainland Chinese Students):
1. Recommended by the Dean of College.
2. Certificates of special merits: Certificates of Merit, patents owned, thesis published or
certifications and licenses, etc.

Article 7
Reviewing Process: Applications received will be reviewed by Atelier Future Promotional
Committee. The committee will review the submitted file. An interview will be arranged for
applicants who pass the file review. Decisions will be made based on the file review and the
interview. Applicants who apply to no other scholarship or aid shall have the preference.

Article 8
The recipient can be disqualified and the aid will be cancelled if any of the following situation
applies during the academic year:
1. In the case of suspension from school, dropping out or discontinuing schooling.
2. The academic grades, conduct scores or behaviors fall short of the required performances.
3. In the case of forged papers/documents being submitted.

Article 9
The directions and the amendments thereof have to be approved by the President of NCKU before
they come into effect.
