Administrator ThispostprovidesinformationonupgradingtheIPphonefirmware.
Twomethodsoffirmwareupgrade:
Manually,fromthelocalsystemforasinglephone.
Automatically,fromtheprovisioningserverforamassofphones.

ThefollowingtableliststheassociatedandlatestfirmwarenameforeachIPphonemodel(Xisreplacedbytheactualfirmware

UpgradeviaWebUserInterface

Tomanuallyupgradefirmwareviawebuserinterface,youneedtostorethefirmwaretothelocalsysteminadvance.
Toupgradefirmwaremanuallyviawebuserinterface:
1.ClickonSettings>Upgrade.(ForT3XandVP530,clickonPhone>Upgrade.)
2.ClickBrowse.
3.Selectthefirmwarefromthelocalsystem.
4.ClickUpgrade.
AdialogboxpopsuptopromptFirmwareoftheSIPPhonewillbeupdated.Itwilltake5minutestocomplete.Pleasedon't
poweroff!.
5.ClickOKtoconfirmtheupgrade

Note
DonotunplugthenetworkandpowercableswhentheIPphoneisupgradingfirmware.
DonotcloseandrefreshthebrowserwhentheIPphoneisupgradingfirmwareviawebuserinterface.

UpgradeFirmwarefromtheProvisioningServer

IPphonessupporttousetheFTP,TFTP,HTTP,andHTTPSprotocolstodownloadtheconfigurationfilesandfirmwarefromthe
provisioningserver,andthenupgradefirmwareautomatically.
IPphonescandownloadfirmwarestoredontheprovisioningserverinoneoftwoways:
Checkforbothconfigurationfilesandfirmwarestoredontheprovisioningserverduringbootingup.
Automaticallycheckforconfigurationfilesandfirmwareatafixedintervalorspecifictime.
Methodofcheckingforconfigurationfilesandfirmwareisconfigurable.

Procedure
Configurationchangescanbeperformedusingtheconfigurationfilesorlocally.

Toupgradethebasestationfirmware,contactyoursystemadministratorforthelatestfirmwarefile,andstoreitonyourlocal
systeminadvance.
Toupgradebasestationfirmwareviawebuserinterface:
1.ClickonPhone>Upgrade.
2.IntheSelectandUpgradeBaseFirmwarefield,clickBrowsetolocatethefirmwarefilefromyourlocalsystem.
3.ClickUpgradetoupgradethefirmwareofthebasestation.
ThebrowserpopsupthedialogboxFirmwareoftheSIPPhonewillbeupdated.Itwilltake5minutestocomplete.Pleasedon't
poweroff!.
4.ClickOKtoconfirmupgrading.
Theupgradingprocesswilltakeafewminutes.ThepowerindicatorLEDonthebasestationflasheswhenthebasestationis
duringthefirmwareupgradingprocess.

Oncethebasestationfirmwarehasbeensuccessfullyupgraded,thebasestationrebootsautomatically.Thehandsetwillperform
anautoregistrationtothebasestation.Youcancheckthefirmwareversionofthebasestationusingthehandset.

UpgradetheHandsetFirmware

YoucanupgradeW52xhandsetfirmwareviaaUSBtoolorovertheair(OTA).
UpgradinghandsetfirmwareviatheUSBtool(developedbyYealink),youneedtopurchaseaUSBcableinadvance,andthen
upgradethehandsetfirmwareonebyone.
UpgradinghandsetfirmwareviaOTAmeansthatthehandsetfirmwarecanbeupgradedthroughawirelessDECTconnection
(L2CAP).SoaUSBcabledoesnothavetobepluggedtothehandsetforfirmwareupgrade.OTAenablesthedistributionofnew
firmwaretothesubscribedhandsets.

OTAupgradecapabilityisrestrictedtospecificfirmwareversionsandhandsethardware:
*Handsetwithfirmware26.40.0.15orlater
*Basestationwithfirmware25.40.0.15orlater
*Handsetwithhardware26.0.0.6orlater

OTAisonlyavailablewhenmeetingtheabovethreeconditionssimultaneously.

Upgradinghandsetfirmwaremaytakeaperiodoftime,pleaseupgradethehandsetoutsideofworkhourstoavoidaffectingthe
normaluse.
