GROUP ASSIGNMENT

Students are to form a group consist of 4 members and develop one organization and create a
new products or services based on your own creativity .Your organization should focus on the
following topics. The students are then required to write a report based on your understanding
from the lesson in the class. Towards the end semester, the students are to present their ideas
and findings to the rest of the class.

Contents of the report

1.0 Introduction
Briefly explain your companys background (Name, history, types of products (products
criterias) or services, location, marketing strategy, and organizational members)

2.0 Planning
Identify the firms:

i. Mission statement
ii. Goals
iii. Objectives
iv. Single use plans (Give examples)

3.0 Organizing
Identify the firms:

i. Organizational structure (Explain the organizations chain of command, span of

control, line & staff responsibilities, and types of departmentalization)
ii. Locus of decision making (centralization vs decentralization)
iii. Levels of delegation

4.0 Motivation
Identify the motivation approach used by the firm (give examples)

5.0 Leading
Identify the leadership approach used by the manager in making sure that your
employees are working towards achieving the goals of his/her organization. Relate your
answer with any leadership theories.
6.0 Control
i. Describe the control methods adopted by firm (pre action control, steering control,
screening control, post action control)
ii. Give examples of the controlling activities that take place in any of the firm
department (Planned performance (target), Actual Performance & Correction Action
Being Taken)

7.0 Communication
Identify the communication approach/system used by the organization to ensure that
accurate information can be conveyed to its stakeholders.

8.0 Management From Islamic Perspective

Identify your application towards your organization from Islamic Perspectives.

9.0 Conclusion
Explain what you have learned from the discussion with your group members.

Guidelines on report preparation

Sequences of the report materials

i. Title page (title, name of recipient and sender, date of submission)

ii. Acknowledge
iii. Table of Contents
iv. Abstracts/Executives Summary
v. Introduction
vi. Research Con tents and Analysis
vii. Conclusions
viii. References
ix. Appendices (Evidence of the research (brochures, photographs, etc)

General Guidelines

1. Assignment should be computer typed using 1.5 spacing on A4 paper and using font type Times
New Roman size 12 / Arial size 11 for 15-20 pages ONLY.

2. Typing should be on one side each of the pages only.

3. Failure to submit by the due date would result in the candidate being awarded zero marks.
Assignment submitted late without prior application for an extension or medical evidence will not
be accepted. Extensions are granted only because of circumstances.

4. A 20-30minute presentation of the project to the class followed by a 5-10 minutes question period
