VEHICLE AND PEDESTRIAN MOVEMENT CONTROL 2017

INTRODUCTION
Many decades back when the first traffic signals were set up these signals were operated
manually by the traffic law enforcing personnel standing on the round elevated platform
.Over the years several innovations evolved in controlling the signals and regulating traffic
and pedestrian flow at crossroads. Microprocessor, microcontroller, adaptive control, DSP
controllers were some of the many techniques used in the control of the signals.
The aim of this project was to demonstrate the control of traffic by using digital logic circuits.
The prototype circuit was developed by considering Fun Mall Republic T-section situated
very close to the college. T-section has a main road moving from north to south with the
section turning from south to east. The north to east turn is considered a free left turn. The
pedestrian signal is situated on the south end for which two poles were constructed. Another
two poles were constructed at the north and south ends to regulate main traffic as well as to
regulate the traffic flow from south to east.
The control digital logic circuit was rigged up on a bread board and was tested thoroughly
before the final project submission.
