Camp Himalaya International Program

April 18-24, 2010
Dynasty Resort, Khurpatal, Nainital, India

After highly successful Camp Himalaya 2009 program attended by karate trainers from Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, USA and
hosts India, we are organizing the next edition of Camp Himalaya from April 18 to 24, 2010. With the ever-increasing emphasis in society
on decision-making and successful living, sound training is required at all levels of individual life. Camp Himalaya International Karate
Program examines athletes in the context of such a performance specific environment and details the essential concepts of a champion that
can be learned and practiced by athletes and coaches of various forms of karate.
Since travel time to Greater Himalayas and Trans Himalayas are much longer demanding arduous trekking, the 6-days intensive residential
Camp Himalaya 2010 International Karate Program shall be organized in the foothills of Himalayas also known as Lesser Himalayan
region.
To make Camp Himalaya International Karate Program a unique experience for you to enrich and transform your life, we have designed the
program to include Traditional Karate and Himalayan Yoga's unique techniques that facilitate improvised technical standard of the athletes
and coaches. Unique features of this program are the result of continuous research.

The first zone is that of the most populated Lesser Himalaya. This
region is watered by the rivers Kosi, Gomti, Saryu, Ramganga E.,
Ramganaga W. and Gagas. Their banks known as 'seras' are highly
fertile. It is here that the major Lesser Himalayan settlements like
Pithoragarh, Lohaghat, Champawat, Gangolihat, Berinag,
Bageshwar, Kapkot, Ramgarh, Nainital, Almora, Ranikhet, Dwarahat,
Chaukhutia, Someshwar and Kausani are situated.

The second zone is that of the Greater Himalaya. A major proportion of

this is under permanent snow - cover. Most of the snow-fed rivers
originate from this region of glaciers such as the Sunderdhunga,
Pindari, Kafni, Namik, Poting, Milam, Lwa,, Balati, Meola and
Panchchuli etc.

The third zone that of the Trans Himalayan region of the Malla Johar,
Darma and Byans valleys, is called the Tethys Himalaya, although it is
just an extension of the catchments of the Greater Himalaya. This dry
and arid region, inhabited mainly by the Shaukas, is known in
connection with the Tibetan trade, the Kailas-Mansrovar Pilgrimage
and production and trade of woolen goods and herbs.

Base Camp Location - Situated at an altitude of 5600 feet next to Khurpatal Lake,
set amidst thick pinewood forest, with a panoramic view of lake and mountains, is
Dynasty Resort, only 8 km west of Nainital, where Camp Himalaya 2010 Program
shall be conducted. www.dynastyresort.com Training program shall be conducted

Research
IKaReF encourages you to awaken the dormant consciousness of your mind and undertake
research works in the following Katas. To help you carry on the research, we provide some of
the clues in form of questions and advise you to stat working on the topics before we explain
in the Camp Himalaya 2010.

Heian (Peaceful Way)- What is peace and peaceful ways? How can 5 Hien katas provide peaceful ways? How are
Budo doctrines applied in attaining peaceful ways? What significant changes the movements bring in human body?
How can these changes in metaphysical bodies of practitioners be quantified? Can such changes defy the existing
principles of physical science and help practitioners achieve the status of super humans?

Tekki (Iron Horse) - Why do all the Hien katas start from left while tekki from right? What implications do they carry
on human body in the long run? What is iron horse and who is the horse rider? How are they separate and what is
achieved in the process?

Bassai (To penetrate a fortress <dai=major, sho=minor> )Why do all the Hien katas start from left , tekki
from right and bassai from front? What is the significance of transitional movements? What are external and internal
reactions of fusion and diffusions in the performance of this kata? What is finally achieved in the process of Bassai
katas?

Kanku (Viewing the sky ) - What is the relevance of viewing the sky with self-defence principle? What is finally
achieved in the process of viewing the sky? Can it help one achieve the highest goal of Budo - Mushin? How? What
are the step by step internal & external process? How can they be quantified?
