COMMUNICATIVE OBJECTIVES To discuss about superstition and beliefs.


AND LINGUISTIC PORPUSE To share experiences and opinions about the topic.
1. Warm up: the teacher will introduce the topic (beliefs), and give some examples of common beliefs in Colombia
commonly related to luck and protection. (rock crystals such as Quartzes, witchcraft, uncommon practices, and of
course possibly the most common belief in Colombia: God) (10 mins)
2. Activity: the teacher will ask some questions about some common beliefs; questions such as: Do you believe in God, or
TIME LINE / SESSION any religion? Do you think miracles are possible? Do you believe in amulets to attract luck, prosperity love or others?
MANAGEMENT And other questionsreliable to the topic, the students will discuss the answers and express their opinions.(The idea is
not to hurt a particular students belief, it is just asking opinions for the activity). (25mins)
3. Socialize: After the discussion, the teacher will ask if the students believe in superstitions, then to introduce the second
topic, (superstitions) the teacher will show Video 1, and discuss with the students about the origin of some
superstitions.(10 mins)
4. Activity 2: The teacher will ask, if the superstitions of the video are common here in Colombia, also if we as Colombians
have another superstitions, with that information, the teacher will ask if the students have any particular superstition,
and if they have participated in common Colombian superstition activities (for example: if they have ever ran with a
baggage in new years eve), the idea is that the students share their experiences and express their opinions. (25 mins)
5. Reflection:In order to close both topics the teacher will discuss with the student about how believable, iffy, or simply
crazy, can some beliefs and superstitions be. (15 mins)
6. Closing: the teacher will give feedback to the students. (5 mins)
