Dear Students,

After clearing the IBPS Pre examination, the next target ahead is to clear IBPS mains examination.
Although a candidate is supposed to prepare simultaneously for both the examination and at the same
time clearing pre is crucial as its necessary to qualify in order to sit for mains examination. Now the
candidate needs a strategic approach to not only clear the examination but also attain good marks.

The mains examination comprises four sections i.e.

1. Reasoning and computer aptitude: For reasoning and computer aptitude, candidate should
focus on questions based on puzzles and seating arrangement. Although the time allotted is 60
minutes for 45 questions but he/she must be able to identify the strong area and try to devote
more time in that particular area. For computer, basic knowledge on generations of computers,
various languages, SQL, ER relationships, short cuts, etc. should be focused on.
2. General/Economy/Banking Awareness: Special focus should be given on banking awareness, at
the same time current affairs shouldnt be overlooked. Also, a candidate must be prepared with
the headquarters and punch line of all the banks and the various rates and questions related to
monetary and fiscal policy, Basel norms, etc. Questions on books and authors, various
appointments, deals, etc. holds relative importance.
3. English Language: Reading comprehension holds great importance, as a student can score good
marks provided he/she has command in this particular section. This year IBPS had changed the
pattern and also increased the difficulty level, so thorough knowledge of the subject is must. A
candidate must be aware of rules of English grammar thoroughly.
4. Data Analysis & Interpretation: This is the major change that IBPS had made following the
changes made by SBI. Instead of Quantitative Aptitude section, DI has been added in order
check the analytics skill of the candidate. Questions based on graphs should be focused on and
also data sufficiency questions. This section will include most of DI question, so practicing a lot
will be an extra added importance.

Although the time gap between pre and mains examination is less, so preparation for both the phase
should be done simultaneously, in order to come up with flying colors. Focus on English should be
considered as a paramount as this will further help in descriptive exam and interview as well. Ones
focus shouldnt be just clearing the phases but clearing the interview as well. So one should keep in
mind each and everything and develop a strategic approach, devote time to each section, go for online
test, judge your performance, identify your weak area, and boost your performance.

Good Luck!
