1. What is the Declaration of Graduate Module(s) for Credit exercise about?

Eligible undergraduate students who have registered for graduate module(s) (i.e., Level 5000 and
above) may declare if they wish to use the graduate module(s) to fulfil the requirements for a
graduate programme that they plan to pursue in the future. By making such a declaration, the
graduate module(s) will not be counted towards their undergraduate programme.

2. Who is eligible to participate in the Declaration of Graduate Module(s) for Credit exercise?

The exercise is applicable for all undergraduate students who have registered for graduate
module(s) in their current semester. However, this exercise is not applicable to students of Faculty
of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), School of Computing, School of Design and Environment
(SDE), Yale-NUS College, Bachelor of Technology Programme and Concurrent Degree
Programmes.

3. When does the Declaration of Graduate Module(s) for Credit exercise take place?

The exercise normally takes place in Semester 1 and Semester 2 from Monday to Friday of Week
6, and in Special Term Part 1 and 2 from Monday to Friday of Week 2. Eligible undergraduate
students who registered for graduate module(s) will receive an e-mail sent to their NUS student
account informing them of the declaration exercise.

4. How will the declaration of graduate module(s) affect students CAP and modular credits (MC)?

By declaring a graduate module to be used to fulfil the requirements for a graduate programme in
the future, the grade attained from the graduate module will not be computed in the CAP of the
students undergraduate programme. In addition, no modular credit (MC) from the graduate module
will be counted towards the undergraduate programme.

The grading basis of such module(s) will be changed from Graded to Not Computed in
CAP/Marks (NCP).

5. How would the graduate module(s) declared be reflected in my transcript?

Graduate module(s) declared to be used to fulfil the requirements for the graduate programme will
have a remark that states Module was excluded from computation of the final Cumulative Average
Points/Marks in the students undergraduate transcript. However, the grade(s) attained will still be
reflected in the transcript.

6. How many graduate modules can students declare to use to fulfil a graduate degree?

There is no limit to the number of graduate module(s) that students can declare to use to fulfil a
graduate degree. However, students are advised to check with the Faculty/School offering the
graduate programme for any restrictions on the number of graduate modules that could be counted
towards the graduate programme that they wish to pursue. In addition, as the graduate module(s)
declared will not be counted towards students undergraduate programme, student must take into
consideration of any potential delays to their graduation.

7. How would students know if the particular graduate module(s) could be used to fulfil the graduate
degree that they wish to pursue in future?

Students are advised to check with the Faculty/School offering the graduate programme whether
the particular graduate module(s) could be used to fulfil the graduate programme that they wish to
pursue in future.

Students can also check with their Home Faculty/School whether there are any restrictions
preventing them from declaring particular graduate module(s) to be used to fulfil the requirements
for the graduate programme. For students who are reading a second major or a minor programme
offered by Faculties/Schools outside their Home Faculty/School, they can also check with the
Faculty/School offering the second major or minor programme on the existence of any such
restrictions.

8. How do students know if their declaration is successful?

Students will receive an e-mail informing them of the outcome of their declaration from the
Registrars Office once their records are updated. They can then check and verify their records in
the Student Information System.

9. Can students appeal for the particular graduate module(s) that had been declared to fulfil the
graduate degree to be changed back to fulfil their undergraduate degree requirements?

No. The declaration made by the deadline will be considered final and is irrevocable.

10. Can the declaration of graduate module(s) for credit be applied for modules registered in previous
semesters?

No, the declaration of graduate module(s) for credit can only be applied for modules registered in
the current semester.

11. What will happen if a student misses the declaration exercise?

The graduate module(s) will be counted towards the fulfillment of the undergraduate degree.

12. Who can the students contact if they have queries regarding the declaration of graduate module(s)
for credit?

Students may email examinations@nus.edu.sg if they have any queries regarding this declaration
exercise.
