Associated Learning Standard(s): The resource may be generally applicable, if so, simply state that. List any ISTE-S standards that
seem to naturally align with the selected resource.

When it comes to the ISTE standards for students, its very fitting that this tech tool incorporates most, if not all standards listed.
Using Skype in the classroom allows students to become an empowered learner, a digital citizen, a creative communicator and a
global collaborator. The possibilities are endless for Skype in the Classroom.

RESOURCE DESCRIPTION

Give a brief description of the technology/resource.

What this resource does is, give the opportunity to students/educators to communicate digitally in terms of a video chat or a voice
call. It works well with any device that is connected to the internet - phone, laptop, tablet, etc. Aside from education, its a great
way to keep in touch with people around the world.

INTEGRATION IDEA - COLLABORATION

How might you integrate this resource in a lesson plan to promote collaboration among students in your classroom, or among
students and others outside of the classroom?

Using Skype in the classroom is a great way to expose students to whats going on in other cultures. Kids everywhere around the
world are in schools learning the same concepts, but maybe in a different way. Skype allows video chat to where kids in Texas can
communicate with kids in New Zealand about what kind of math are they learning right now.

Ideally, what I would like to utilize Skype for is, to bring in real-individuals who work in the fields of mathematics. Kids are always
asking, When am I going to use this in real life? Well, hopefully those professional men and women can clear up that question in
the field of math. Bringing in guest speakers are always a good thing - for students and even teachers.

VALUE-ADDED EXPLANATION

Based on the value-added rating scale above, how would you rate the technology integration you described, using the
selected resource?

Explain your rating based on the rubric indicators.

Based of the rating of the scale, I would give this tool a solid 2. It very well aligns to content standards, the ITSE ones more
specifically. Its somewhere in between enhancing and transforming a lesson. I say that because you can take the lesson at hand
youre teaching and set up a Skype call with another classroom or a individual who can express that same lesson in their own way.
Therefore, students shouldnt just rely on their teacher as their main resource. There are an abundance of ways to learn one thing
- from different people. Not only that, but the students will be the ones using this device. All the instruct would do is of course,
handle the technical side and get in contact with the other teacher to set up this video chat. After that, students can ask what it is
theyre curious about. Im looking for exposure of different cultures doing the same thing - school and how they handle it.
