unrise along Bokod, Benguet

Ive always wanted to see the trails of Ambuklao. The lake view of Ambuklao is just
an amazing picture that I just wanted to see up close. From Baguio, we went to
Bokod, Benguet and the journey to Bokod was just amazing. The road had the rich
view of the Cordillera mountains. The forest and mountain reserve of Cordillera is
so huge that it could take you years even decades just exploring them. We were
rewarded by a majestic view of sunrise along the way too.
Ambuklao Dam
Theres so many ways to appreciate the view of the dam. Theres the Ambuklao
lake which is several kilometers long. Theres the overflow area opposite of the
lake, which was a bit dry owing to the summer months. After visiting the main dam
area, we went to the view deck nearby to take a different vantage point of the lake.
Another view of the Dam.
Its not just that Dam that amazes you but also the surrounding mountain ranges.
Bokod, Benguet has a very huge forest reserve and its really something worth
exploring. Coming from the view deck, we then went to Lolo Cancios, which had a
really magnificent view of the lake and the mountains. Its just so calming having
such a serene view while having breakfast.

Drew and Iya's meal consisted of brown rice, beef nilaga, chicken adobo,
beef steak and coffee. Sounds heavy? Well, if you are going to spend the
next hours trekking then you must come prepared.

Drew and Iya's first destination was Ambuklao Dam, which serves as one
of the sources of electricity in Luzon. The lake also provides most of the
fish consumed by the people in the area. The clear water of the lake
mirrors the blue sky above and provides a dramatic setting for anyone who
wants to take photos. The mountains surrounding the lake further amplify
its beauty.

Drew says, "Sa mga experiences ko sa lake, ito ang pinaka-kakaiba dahil
sa temperatura." Indeed, the temperature in the lake was freezing. Better
think twice before trying to swim. Not that swimming is allowed.

Drew and Iya got the opportunity to ride a fisherman's boat and explore the
Ambuklao lake for free. If you want to do the same, you can negotiate with
one of the fish pen owners.
