Presentation to BCA for TBM-4

Currently TBM 3 has mined from R109 to R185

So far the TBM performance is very good and


successfully undercrossed 2 properties

Only a small over excavation was observed at R142


which happened after resuming mining after CHI. It was
compensated by TBM body grouting in the following
rings. 2 probe holes were carried out from surface to
prove no void exists and grouted

No sign of distress

Continuous body / backfill grouting

All the instrumentation readings are stable

measure do not need to be taken:

1. Adjusting the alignment to avoid mixed face condition


2. Carrying out ground improvement (such as grouting) underneath the building to form
homogeneous annuli surrounding the tunnel
3. Temporarily vacate the house
