Competence Sustained Teaching
Introduction -Warmer Describe the setting, the grades you taught and explain the purpose of this placement:

- I was in AlQarayen Kindergarten thats located in Sharjah city. In this

school there are six kg 2 classes. I was teaching in kg2-4 with Ms. Amal
and Ms. Reem.

When I choosed this class I didnt know about how the teachers in this
class will be. But in the end I notice that they teachers where kind and I
liked they way that they deliver the information and how they deal with
the children. So I decide to learn from them some stratigies that I could
use in next TP.

Professionalism How did you demonstrate professional behavior as a trainee teacher in the school?
Explain how you maintained your professional status not only in your own classroom
but also across the school.
- I demonstrate professional behavior in the school by collaborating with
the teachers by helping and joining them in their events such as,
International food day, and pajama party. Also I set with my collagues
Fatima and jawaher MST and my MST to benefit form them and we do an
English meeting before teaching the lesson. Moreover, I was preparing
the lesson plan for each subject such as, math, science and English. And
most of the dayes I where helping the teachers while were in the
playground. I take a particular place to monitor children while theyre
playing.

Explain how conducting and receiving one formal peer observations helped you to
develop professionally?
- While Im doing peer pbservation for my collegue Ayesha Hassan, I could
see whats happening right and whats happening wrong. I think that peer
opservation helped me on demonstrating leadership while Im observing
and supporting Ayesha. Also it gaves me an oppurtinty to learn from my
collagues Ayesha.

Explain how you collaborated with other staff in activities that involve the community
during this placement.
- As I said before, I had an oppurtintiy to help other staff on preparing for
there events such as, international food day and pajama party. On
international food day, I decorate our section with my Arabic teacher and
Fatima Ahmed Arabic teacher. On pajama day, I wear a pajama and I bring
my teddy bear to involve with the students, also I helped the teacher
while theyre doing the songs and I danced with them.

Planning for Learning (including What difficulties did you face in planning seven differentiated lesson plans to ensure
Knowledge and Understanding of that they included a range of activity types for the whole class, groups, and individuals
Content) - The difficulties that I have faced in planning seven differentiated lesson
plan are managing the classes and how to devid it between me and arabic
teacher and the english teacher, because sometimes the english teacher
want to teach them particular things also the Arabic teacher. And the
other thing is the school has many events such as, world food day, Pijama
party and they where going to trip for two weeks.

Explain how you assessed the learning objectives/outcomes you set the students.
- To assess students learning objective that I set for the students, I used
different types of activities after I give them the lesson, I did three

activities for all of them. First one was individually, they will do it while
theyre in the centers. Also for the group work I did it while theyre on the
centers and sometime I take them outside to do physicaly group work. For
the whole group, usally I do it at closing up to assess them before they
went to the playground. Sometimes, in the next lesson I revise with them
to make sure that they understood the lesson.
Implementing and Managing Learning Explain what you did to make sure that your modeling / demonstration of the tasks you
(including behaviour management, set your students was clear and effective.
language, and delivery) - To let them understand the tasks, I explain it maype two times, first time I
was telling them what to do, the second time I showed them how to do it
infront of them. And maype two times I let one of the children how
understand well to show students the activities and explain it for them.

What strategies did you apply to maintain student engagement and how effective were
they in ensuring that tasks were completed effectively?
- To make students more engaged on doing their tasks, I usually praise
them by using stickers because I traied many things but in the end what
really make them engaged is stickers. Also I use enjoyable activities that
children like such as, fishing on the pool, using he sand to write and draw
and doing activities using the lego and also they like collage so, I perefer
using different activities to emgage them.

Provide examples of how you developed student independence and responsibility in

your classes.
- As I said before, I let some children who understand the activities well to
explain or to show them how to do it. Moreover, everday one student
should be the leader of the class to ask them to make a line.

Monitoring, Assessment, and What strategies did you use to monitor student progress across a range of connected
Evaluation teaching sessions including class, group, pair, and individual work
- To monitor students progress, I observed them while theyre doing their
activities. And because they take one phonic each day, in the end of the
week I see each children progress by comparing their work that they did
from the frist day.

Provide examples of and describe the formative assessment instruments such as as

anecdotal notes, checklists, Traffic Lights, photos, children self-assessment, Learning
Journey, etc.. you used to evaluate student performance in a variety of activity types
- For the formative assessment instrument I barrow from my teacher her
checklist that she makes already, because in the end of the day I set with
ther to discuss about students and how they are progressing. Also I took
some photos of children while theyre doing the activities.

Reflection on Practice Which teaching strategies did you find were particularly effective and explained why
with reference to educational theory and/or experience?
According to Skinner who develop the concept of reinfrocment schedule which are
praisng studens by doing for example a reward system. And using it may engourge
student to do more and to have a good behavior. Thats why my MST used a reward
system to her students to let them behave good and to encourage them to do
more.(Chomsky,1967)
-

Identify and critically evaluate the influence of a range of stakeholders at your school
e.g. Ministry of Education, Principal, parents, etc.
- The principle was good with us, she was supporting us by coming to our
classes and if we where teaching she give us some support words. For the
princlpe assistance, she wasnt good with us, she was putting rules form
her own mind, but what we have to do is stick to her rules. Also she
wasnt supporting us at all.

I liked that my MSTs and the parents where so nice with me, they
supports me and they where very kind and helpful. Its good to see that
some parents told you that their child always say our name at the home.

Explain how closely you were able to apply key principles from your own teaching
philosophy as a student teacher in this school?
- I commit the rules, I gave them a good picture of a good teacher. Also,
everything that they ask me to do, I do it. I appreciated them and respect
their rules.

What would you say have been your particular strengths during this TP? Which areas for
development have you identified for next semester - justify this?

- My particular strength was, managing students behavior, managing the

classroom by doing transiotin and by reinforce students. Also I stablished
some rules for them before I start the lesson. Children loved me and they
get used with me form the first week, its nice to know that when I didnt
came when I was sick, they where asking about me and in the next day
they told me to come everyday.

- In my opinion, I have to develop the sounds and how I should say it, also
changing my voice tone during the lesson to make them more interest
and to grap their attention.
