Here we deal with Part 1 of the song, as played by Izzy. We recommend learning Slash's part first, as it
has a little more going on in it. However, Izzy's is a bit easier, so you may find this the best one to begin
with. Both guitarists play many of the same riffs together, but there are some differences. The song is in
Eb, so drop each string by 1 note to:

Low Eb : Ab : Gb : Db : Bb : Eb

The song is long, so we're dividing it into 3 parts. However, it's length is largely due to the fact that many
of the riffs are repeated time and again. You could learn this 1st part of the song, and know most of all
the main song parts.

Intro - Nice and simple build up leading into the main riff. You can hear Slash's guitar play chords over
the top.

Main Riff - This is the signature riff of the song, and the one that most people want to learn first. It's
played exactly the same by Slash, except the last tail. Izzy descends through power chords, whereas
Slash ascends up through higher power chords.

Verse 1 - A simple chord progression using double stabs. Izzy plays lower chords than Slash to beef up
the sound. He also doesn't play the palm muted downstrokes between stabs. There are small sections of
standard chords which act as mini-bridges during the verses.

Verse 2 and Verse 3 - These follow the same structure and format as Verse 1, just using lower chords.

Bridge - This power chord section links to the following main riff again.

Heartbeat - This next part is where the 'heartbeat' plays in the song. It's short and simple on the guitar.
Afterwards the song reverts back to the previous riffs until the following bridge....

Bridge - We end Part 1 with this section of the song. Izzy plays different chords to Slash here, and then
slows down as the song melts into the gentle interlude (which is the next part of the song).

Apparently theres multiple ways to play this extremely complicated song. The main riff can be played
with power chords so thats good. Hopefully it wont be so bad. This would be a nice challenge that
