The pied piper of Hamlin
A long time ago the town of Hamlin was faced with a great problem. It became full of rats. The Rates were so
big and so fierce that they fought the dogs, killed the cats and bit the babies in the cradles. They ate up the
corn in the granaries. At last the Mayor of the town was informed about the problem by the people. But the
Mayor failed to find a definite solution to remove the violent rats. However, there came a pied piper who
offered the Mayor to remove the rats in lieu of thousand guiders. The Mayor and his councilors accepted this
proposal. The pied piper through his magical blow of pipe took all the rats to nearby the river. When the piper
played the pipe , all the rats of the town followed him into river and drowned. After completing his task, the
piper demanded his money. But the Mayor refused to pay all the money except only a little amount. The pied
piper became very angry and playing different tune .He hallucinated all the children of Hamlin. Like the rats
they followed him laughing and dancing. At last the children reached at a certain hill and entered into the den
of it from where they never came back. The pied piper in this way took the revenge on the people of Hamlin.

The Principal

Sir,
We, the student of the school, beg most respectfully to state that we have been feeling the need of a debating
club in our school. A debating club offers the opportunity for the students to develop their power of thinking
and oration. It widens the horizon of the knowledge of the students as they have to study different books on
the topic. There are promising boys and girls who, if get chance, can show their talents in debate and even can
bring to victory to our school in national debate competition.
We, therefore, pray and hope and hope that you would be kind enough to arrange a debating club in our school
as soon as possible and oblige us thereby.
Youre most obediently,
The students of Dhaka Ideal Institute.

An application for setting up a canteen.

30 June, 2016
The Principal,
Dhaka Ideal Institute.
Subject: Application for setting up a canteen in the school campus.
Sir,
I, on behalf of the students of class teen of your school, have to honor to state that ours in one of the most
famous schools in the city. But it is a matter of great regret that there is no canteen in our school campus. We
acutely feel the need of a canteen. Our classes start at 10 a.m. And break up at 4 p.m. There is a thirty minutes
break at lunch time. However, most of the students cannot go home for lunch because they live far away. They
have to take their lunch at roadside hotels and restaurants. But most of these are unhygienic and harmful to
our health. Moreover, a school canteen may provide low-priced hygienically prepared food.
In the light of the above circumstances, we would fervently request you to set up a canteen in the school
campus and oblige us thereby.
Sincerely yours,
Anima Khan
On behalf of the students of class Seven.

The Chairman,
Dhaka.

Subject: application for relief for the flood affected people.

Dear Sir,
We, the inhabitants of Homna Uplazilla, would like to draw your kind attention to the flood that has recently
visited this area. The fold has broken all the records of the past. The miseries of the affected people know no
bounds. Thousands of people have become homeless. Many of them have taken shelter of rooftops. Boats and
embankments. They are now living under the open sky without food or cloth. Cholera, diarrhea, typhoid,
dysentery etc. Have broken out in an epidemic form. Crops have been greatly damaged. The sconce is very
pathetic. The affected people are badly in need of foods, shelters, clothes, medicines, pure water etc
immediately. Reliefs from the govt. and NGOs are too little to meet the huge demand. So, more relief goods are
badly needed for the distressed people.

In the above circumstances, we earnestly request you to send sufficient relief good to the flood affected
people of this area immediately to lessen their sufferings and oblige thereby.

Yours truly,
The inhabitants of Dulalpur union.

Television
Television is one of the greatest discoveries of modern science. John Bayard invented the television in 1925.
The word television has come from the Latin word tele and greek word vision. Tele means distance or far and
vision means sight. Therefore television means far sight.
Television is one of the most modern means of communication ideas and thoughts. We hear the speeches of the
world famous personality. It serves much more than a radio. It is like a stage where performers are seen and
heard. It gives us news on national and international matters.
Television is a source of recreation. After days hard works we sit before a television set and hear music and
songs. We enjoy drama, dance and many other things.
Television has a great education value. It teaches the illiterate and students. We hear and enjoy debates,
lectures on various important topics, discussion on science and speeches through television. It has broken the
wall between the literate and illiterate.
Now a days people need not go to stadium to enjoy a game. They sit before television and enjoy football,
cricket and other games and sports.
Television has made the world small. It has conquered time and distance. People need not spend huge money to
go abroad. We get familiar with the customs and traditions, fashions and dresses and culture of the people of
different part of the world through television.
Television has some demerits also. Young people most often watch the exciting films on violence and crime.
They also see the obscene films and naked dances. All these things leave a damaging effect on their mind.
Television is an important medium of mass communication. It plays an important role in our daily life.

Composition: Your Favorite Poet / My Favorite Poet / The Man I Admire Most
Kazi Nazrul Islam Is My Favorite Poet
Introduction: Kazi Nazrul Islam, our national poet, is my favorite poet. He is one of the most outstanding poets
of indo-Pakistan-sub continent. He is the poet after my heart. I am fully one with him when he says,
I belong to all nations, all times.
Birth of Kazi Nazrul Islam: Nazrul was born in 1899 in the village of Churulia in West Bangal. He lost his
father early in his life and had to struggle hard against poverty. He had to earn his livelihood since he was a
little boy. For this, he was known as Dukhu Mia to the people.
Early life: Nazrul got his boyhood education in his village Maktab. He was restless from his boyhood. His
restless spirit drew him to move from one place to another. His restless spirit drew him to move from one place
to another. He could not confine himself to the routine-bound day-to-day work in the class. From his early life,
he had an indomitable spirit to foam bout the world and see, know and explore what was unseen, unknown and
unexplored.
Literary passion: Nazrul Islam showed a deep passion for literary works from his early life. He joined the letup
parties and composed theatrical pieces for them. He composed Bengali verses full of Arabic and Persian words.
He sent several poems and prose compositions even from the military camps.
Rebel poet: Nazrul Islam was a rebel voice of Bengal. Then indo-pak sub-continent was ruled by the British
colonial government. They ruled with iron hand. They tortured and oppressed people barbarously. Nazrul stood
up against these tortures and oppressions. He declared in a thundering voice,
Tell whether you would quite of this land or you would be dealt with severely.
They threw him into the jail, but they could not dominate his undaunted spirit. He called upon his fellow
prisoners to rise up and revolt,
Kick and break of the prison lock. Set fire on all the prison cells,
Set fire and root out everything.
He was a great friend of the poor and the down-trodden. He roused the sleeping bangalees with his mighty
flute to fight out the white rulers.
Spirit of adventure: Nazrul was a boy of adventurous sprite. When he was only twelve years old, he fled away
to Asansol. There he worked in a bakery-shop for take five a month. Then a sub-inspector of police took him to
Mymensingh. Later on, he got admitted into a high school. Then the first-world war broke out. He felt a great
attraction for the war. As he thought, did he do? He gave up his studies and joined the war. He showed a great
bravery in the war and won the position of a Habilder.
A great patriot: nazrul Islam was one of the greatest patriots of the world. He strained his time, money and
energy for the cause of freedom. He wielded his mighty pen against the atrocities of the ruling class. He had to
undergo untold pangs and sufferings for his love for the country. Most of his poems are full of patriotic
feelings.
Literary works: nazrul Islam wrote an overwhelming number of poems and prose pieces. The number of his
songs exceeded even that of Rabindranath Tagore. Bidrohi, Badan hare, Sarbohara, Chakrobak, Catun Chand,
Fanimansha, Rickter Bedan, Sesh Shaogat etc Are his most outstanding works. All his works are full of spirits
and rebellions. He was put into the jail for writing a fiery anti-government. Poem called Agni-bina. But he cared
little for all that. No oppression or pangs could ever dominate his indomitable spirit. He went on composing
verses and prose pieces one after another even when he was confined in the jail.
Reason for liking: a man likes or, disliking for a person or a thing varies from person to person according to his
taste, aptitude and temperament. To my eyes, Nazruls life is a wonderful blending of a lot of towering and
fascination virtues. All these have stirred my heart tremendously. Nazrul Islam is my guide, glory and pride. He
deserves my respect and admiration for his rebellion voice and extra-ordinary contributions in the field of
Bengali literature. I find the feelings of my heart best expressed in his poems and other writings. He stands
out as a formidable and he stands out as a formidable and outspoken revolutionary. He made a clarion call to his
countrymen to shatter the chains of slavery. He made a fine blending of words from different languages and
cultures. This has made his poems and songs very appealing to the people of all castes, colors and creeds. He
was
A poet of youth with a rebel soul in him. His writings are essentially suited for the platform. They are full of
jerks and jumps, full of vigor and vitality. He was not only a poet but also a great singer. He is the only poet of
Bengal who took part in war. He showed a striking newness in his verse, voice and ideas. My heart fills with a
world of joy, hope and aspirations when I heart fills with a world of joy, hope and aspirations when I read his
poems. He was not a blind imitator of Rabindranath Tagore. He rose to the zenith of his reputation by means of
his originality. Rabindranath Tagore admitted his extra-ordinary genius and made him his successor of
literature art and culture.
Conclusion: Kazi Nazrul Islam, my favorite poet, is no more in our midst. He was attacked with a protracted
disease and suffered for a pretty longer time and lost his mental balance. At last he breathed his last on the
29thaugust, 1976. He is now pray to almighty for the salvation of his departed soul. Let us learn a great lesson
from his colorful life,
Lives of great men all remind us,
We can make our life sublime,
, and depart leaving behind us,
Foot-prints on the sands of time.
