Cabinet approves three-year extension for agricultural scheme
(a) In a bid to incentivise States to increase allocations for agriculture and allied sectors the, Cabinet
Committee on Economic Affair approved the continuation of Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) for
three years 2017-18 to 2019-20 renaming it as Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana-Remunerative
Approaches for Agriculture and Allied sector Rejuvenation (RKVY-RAFTAAR).
(b) The financial allocation of the scheme will be Rs 15,722 crore. The RKVY-RAFTAAR funds would be
provided to States as 60:40 grants between Centre and States (90:10 for North-Eastern States and
Himalayan States).
(c) Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana is a State Plan Scheme of Additional Central Assistance launched in August
2007 as a part of the 11th Five Year Plan by the Government of India.
Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana launched to promote philately-Manoj Sinha
(a) Minister of Communications Shri Manoj Sinha launched A Pan India scholarship program for school
children called Deen Dayal SPARSH Yojana has been launched by the government to increase the reach
of Philately.
(b) Under the scheme of SPARSH (Scholarship for Promotion of Aptitude & Research in Stamps as a Hobby),
it is proposed to award annual scholarships to children of Standard VI to IX having good academic
record and also pursuing Philately as a hobby through a competitive selection process in all postal
circles.
(c) Every Postal Circle will select a maximum of 40 scholarships representing 10 students each from
Standard VI, VII, VIII & IX. The amount of Scholarship will be Rs. 6000/- per annum @ Rs. 500/- per
month.
(d) Manoj Sinha is a minister of communication (independent charge) and minister of state for railways.

PAN not needed for cash sale of agri produce up to Rs 2 lakh/day
(a) The revenue department has announced that farmers do not need to quote PAN for cash sale of their
produce up to Rs 2 lakh a day.
(b) Also, cultivator will not be required to quote his PAN/or furnish Form No 60 (filed by a person who does
not have a permanent account number).
(c) The newly inserted section 269ST in the Income Tax Act bans such cash dealings on a single day, in
respect of a single transaction or transactions relating to one event or occasion from an individual.
(d) The provision implies that any cash sale of an amount of Rs 2 lakh or more by a cultivator of agricultural
produce is prohibited under section 269ST of the Act.
Aadhaar-mobile number linking must by February 6: Govt
The Centre has informed the Supreme Court that Aadhaar and mobile number must be linked by February 6,
2018. The Centre said it was the SC which had mandated Aadhaar-mobile number linking on February 6,
giving a window of one year. Dr. Ajay Bhushan Pandey is the CEO of UIDAI.
First Heli Expo India & International Civil Helicopter Conclave in New Delhi
(a) The 1st Heli Expo India and International Civil Helicopter Conclave-2017 was held at the Pawan Hans
Heliport, Rohini, New Delhi. The theme of this conclave was Enhancing Connectivity.
(b) The first issue of Pawan Hans Magazine Aviation Today was also unveiled by the chief guests on this
occasion. On the second

(a) NITI Aayog has said in a presentation that, the foundation for freedom from six problems namely
poverty, dirt, corruption, terrorism, casteism and communalism will be laid by 2022 when India
celebrates 75 years of Independence.
(b) The presentation was made by NITI Aayog Vice-Chairman Rajiv Kumar.
(c) It talked aboutconnecting all villages with habitations over 500 with all-weather roads by 2019 under
Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
(d) It said that, India should have 20 world class higher education institutions by 2022. It also visualised
that, all villages selected under Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY) should attain model
village status by 2022.
Maharashtra: Govt panel to study merger of weak DCCBs with MSC Bank
Maharashtra government has formed a committee to study the feasibility of merging financially weak District
Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) with the Maharashtra State Cooperative (MSC) Bank. The panel, headed
by former NABARD chairman Yashwant Thorat, is expected to submit its report in a months time. In the
three-layered cooperative lending structure, the DCCBs disburse crop loans to village level Primary
Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS), which in turn lend to the farmers.
Goa to hold Nobel Prize Series-India 2018
The Goa government executed a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of
Bio-Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India (GoI) and Nobel Media, Sweden
to hold the Nobel Prize Series India 2018 (Science Impacts Life) to be held from February 1-28 next year
along with a month-long exhibition brought from Nobel Museum, Sweden. The Nobel series has earlier been
organised in Gujarat.
Nobel Memorial Wall installed at Rajiv Chowk metro station
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd installed the Nobel Memorial Wall at Rajiv Chowk metro station for the
seventh consecutive year. The temporary wall features portraits of Indian Nobel Prize winners to spread
awareness about their contribution to the society.
Inauguration of Three-Day International Conference FIPSPHYSIOCON 2017
FIPSPHYSIOCON 2017, Conference on Human Physiology VII Congress of Federation of Indian
Physiological Societies (FIPS) along with XXIX Annual Conference of the Physiological Society of India (PSI)
organised by Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Science (DIPAS) of DRDO was inaugurated at
Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute (VPCI), University of Delhi.

Guinea becomes new member of International Solar Alliance
(a) Guinea handed over countrys instrument accession to the India-initiated International Solar Alliance.
(b) The ISA, launched at the UN Conference of Parties (CoP) climate summit in Paris on November 30,
2015, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and then French President Francois Hollande.It is open to all 121
prospective member countries falling between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn.

Kazakhstan becomes Qazaqstan by 2025
(a) Kazakhstan is changing its name to Qazaqstan as part of a transition from Cyrillic to a Latin-based
script. A national commission will be set up to oversee the transition, which will be completed by 2025.

China unveils Asias largest island-building vessel
China has unveiled Asias largest artificial island-building ship. The 140-metre-long vessel, which has been
dubbed as magic island maker, is capable of digging 6,000 cubic metres an hour, which is equivalent to
three standard swimming pools.

International Conference on "Ramayan Circuit and Mithila-Awadh Relations" begins in Janakpur
(a) An international Conference on Ramayan Circuit and Mithila-Awadh Relations started at Janakpur in
Nepal. Eminent experts from India and Nepal are participating in this 2 day event.
(b) The Union Government has approved Ramayana and Krishna Circuits under Swadesh Darshan Scheme
of the Union Ministry of Tourism.
(c) Ramayana Circuit: Under it 11 tourist destinations spread across 6 states have been proposed. The
covered destinations are:Ayodhya, Shringhverpur Nandigram and Chitrakoot (ii) Bihar: Sitamarhi, Buxar
and Darbhanga (iii) Telangana: Bhadrachalam (iv) Chattisgarh: Jagdalpur ((v) Karnataka: Hampi (vi)

(d) Besides expert committee has suggested to include Chitrakoot (Madhya Pradesh), Mahendragiri
(Odisha), Nagpur and Nashik (Maharashtra) in the proposed.
5-ship Indian naval training flotilla on visit to Colombo
(a) A five-ship Indian naval training flotilla, based in Kerela is on a visit to Sri Lanka to foster bridges of
friendship between the two countries and expose their trainees to foreign waters. The ships INS Tir,
INS Sujata, INS Sudarshini, INS Shardul and Coast Guard vessel ICGS Sarathi would be there in the
Sri Lankan coast till November 6.

India Post Payment Bank to open 650 branches by around April 2018
(a) The government has announced that India Post Payments Bank will become operational in all 650
districts of the country by April next year.
(b) The first two branches of IPPB are operational in Raipur and Ranchi.
(c) There are 1.55 lakh post offices in the country. In the private space, Airtel Payments Bank, launched in
January this year, started operations with a network of 2.5 lakh merchants. Chinese internet firm
Alibaba controlled Paytm also started payments bank operations this year.
(d) IPPB offers an interest rate of 4.5% on deposits up to Rs25,000; 5% on Rs25,000-50,000 and 5.5% on
Rs50,000-1,00,000.
(e) Payments banks can accept deposits of up to Rs1 lakh per account from individuals and small
businesses.

Prakash Nanjappa wins gold at Commonwealth Shooting Championships
Indian shooters Prakash Nanjappa, Amanpreet Singh and Jitu Rai made a clean sweep in the 50m pistol
event at the Commonwealth Shooting Championships in Gold Coast, Australia. Prakash won the coveted
gold medal with a score of 222.4, while Manpreet Singh, Jitu Rai settled for silver and bronze medals
respectively.
Nadal secures world No.1 until end of year
Spanish tennis ace Rafael Nadal secured a year-end top position in the ATP Rankings following his victory
over South Korean talent Chung Hyeon in the second round of the Paris Masters. This is his fourth time to be
crowned world No.1 at the end of the season, after 2008, 2010 and 2013.
Indian women win Asia Cup 2017, qualify for Hockey World Cup
India beats China 5-4 via and won the womens Asia Cup hockey and India also qualified for next years
World Cup in London, England. Korea is in third place after it defeated Japan.
Indian golfer Shiv Kapur wins Panasonic Open India
Shiv Kapur has clinched his first Asian Tour title in India. At the Delhi Golf Club in New Delhi , he bagged the
Panasonic Open. Kapur had won the Yeangder Heritage in April and finished second at the Thailand Open
this season.
Aditi wins in Abu Dhabi for her third LET title
Indian golfer Aditi Ashok won the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open in Abu Dhabi, UAE and has thereby won
her third Ladies European Tour (LET) title in less than twelve months.Including Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies
Open title, Aditi has won Hero Indian Open and Qatar Ladies Open in last twelve months.

Etikoppaka toys get GI tag, artisans cheer
Etikoppaka toys, popularly known as Lakkapidathalu, have received Geographical Indication by the
Registration of Geographical Indication, categorised in class 20 of the toys category. The Etikoppaka toys
are not only popular in Andhra Pradesh but also gained their popularity all over the country and abroad over
the years.
India successfully tests its first fully indigenous Glide bomb
The Union Government announced on 3 November 2017 that an indigenously developed lightweight Glide
bomb was successfully tested in Chandipur in Odisha. The development marks a major milestone in
developing such weapons. The bomb SAAW (Smart Anti Airfield Weapon) was dropped from an Indian
Air Force aircraft at the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur on 2 November.
India sets Guinness Record for cooking 918 kgs of Khichdi
A team of 50 chefs in a government-led initiative created a world record by cooking 918 kg khichdi live at
the World Food India 2017 event.Famous chef Sanjeev Kapoor led the team for the preparation of khichdi.
Multi-grains such as rice, bajra, ans ragi, as well as pulses, vegetables and spices were used in the khichdi.
Signature Hyderabadi dishes get India Post stamps
Trademark Hyderabadi dishes biryani, baghare baingan, and seviyan have all made their way into India
postage, with the Department of Post issuing stamps with photos of the same. The stamps come as a tribute
to the rich, varied cuisine of Hyderabad, two months ahead of the 500th anniversary of the construction of
the Golconda Fort.
Indias Largest CDQ Facility at Tata Steel Kalinganagar
Tata Steel has established Indias largest Coke Dry Quenching (CDQ) facility, capable of handling 200 metric
tonnes per hour, at its state-of-the-art steel plant at Kalinganagar Industrial Complex in Jajpur district of
Odisha. CDQ is a heat recovery system to cool hot coke from coke ovens.

The first Tsunami Awareness Day was observed in 2016.For the second consecutive year, the World Tsunami
Awareness Day aligned with the International Day for Disaster Reduction and the Sendai Seven Campaign.
The theme for 2017 WTAD is Reduce the Number of Affected People.

Sonepur cattle fair, considered as Asias largest such, kicked-off in Bihar. The cattle fair is held annually,
beginning on Kartik Poornima, at Sonepur in Saran district, about 30 km from Patna. It will continue for
a month.
The Indian Railways has decided to install Aadhaar-based biometric attendance system across its zones
and divisions by January 31st next year.
The Indian Army launched an independent and fully-integrated Joint Training Node (JTN) at Umroi
cantonment, Meghalaya.
