from early on curiosity has been a driving energy for
my artistic exploration. I used any accessible medium
and technique as a means of expression. this attitude DESIGNBOOM SHOP
continued into my architecture studies. however, when
I started to work in the field, it was a difficult time. ---
for every job there were three or four architects lined
up resulting in a lot of pressure long hours and little
money. I ended up feeling quite numb, as though energy
and inspiration were being sucked out of me and this
slowly killed the multitude of creativity I'd had in the past.
it was a growing frustration that built up over three
years, it didn't just happen suddenly.

I compensated some of my frustration by taking a see more
teaching position at the university of fine arts in berlin.
for three semesters I taught studio digital analog, which
focused on the integration of 3D modeling and animation COMPETITIONS
with traditional techniques such as model building. it was ---
very rewarding and offered a field of experimentation
for my own ideas. at that time the students knowledge
of digital tools - compositing, editing and high-end
3D modeling software packages - exceeded my own.
I realized a promising future potential for architectural tino schaedler

so, I decided to go tofilm school to acquire the skills

is it integral to have a background in architecture

to become a digital set designer?
the advance in digital technology has created
opportunities to bridge between the fields due to use of
similar software. adobe photoshop, flash, after affects
or 3Dmax are all used in various disciplines. ten years
ago it was very hard, for architects to make their own designboom mart
films. now, with the help of a computer and the right ICFF - NYC 2007
software it is easy to straight jump into it and to explore see more
any medium. It is fantastic and in a way makes all
creative fields more democratically accessible. sure, april 2007
you dont get around needing skills and talent, but
architectural education covers an incredibly broad ---

has working in digital set design changed contemporary

how you approach architecture? tino schaedler

architecture is about creating interesting spaces and

architects should reinvent the discipline and claim this
new territory otherwise others will do it.
my work process is in constant evolution. when working
as a designer, it's essential to continue pushing yourself.
It is about cultivating a curious mind one that is always
interested in learning, If we stop doing so, I believe our interview
creativity will fade. my attitude to space has also patricia urquiola
changed. I see it more as a time based object / subject see more
relationship driven by a storyline rather than abstract
space or form. I have loosened up quite a lot. as an april 2007
architect I was extremely conceptually rigid , driven
by a very rationalized mind. there is more intuition and ---
improvisation in my work today. CUT 'N 'PASTE - RSS

this used to be a very straight-forward answer,

to do more my own design work. In the end there is
nothing better then being your own boss and being fully
