Are you ready to go? Alright! Good morning to my dear tourists from Angeles
University Foundation. My name is Stephanie Sundiang, 18 years of age and I
will be your tour guide for this delightful and exciting trip here on Cagayan
de Oro. I am delight and I hope you guys are excited because I prepare some
excitement things for you. I would like to introduce our coach captain,
Manong Drew. Say hi to him, Very good!! But before we start our tour, please
lend me your ears because I am giving you some safety precautions and
reminders. Firstly, never stay out of the group because I am sure you don't
want to get lost. Secondly, please always take care of your belongings while
we are walking in the city because we can never know what will happen.
Third, always remember that we are in a learning process. You learn from me
and I learn from you. If you have some information and knowledge about the
area, please do share because passing your knowledge will help to us. Am I
right? Alright, so you see the white flag here, this will be your best friend for
the rest of the day. When I raise the flag like this, it means we should gather
up and get on to the next destination. By the way, our assigned bus is bus
no. 1. I hope no one has problem on that.

Welcome to Cagayan de Oro! If youre looking for an awesome and

wonderful place to stay where you can feel safe, secure and comfortable,
you can visit Cagayan de Oro City anytime. Cagayan de Oro may very well
be the happiest place in the country. The City of Golden Friendship, as it is
sometimes called, is home to especially friendly and warm Filipinos. Their
ready smiles are a fitting welcome, with Cagayan de Oro's accessible location
also making it the Gateway to Northern Mindanao. Time check its already
8 am, and you will be touring around the city for a maximum of 4 hours. Not
only that! You'll be learning the historical views of the city while enjoying the
scene and experiencing the hospitality and friendly approaches of the Kagay-
anons. We will be traveling a 360 view of the Plaza Divisoria which most of
the businesses are found and where the Freemasonry Centennial Marker is
located. And now we are in Plaza divisoria, It is just a typical city park but it
transforms into a night market every Friday and Saturday night. It was built
around 1900s as a town divider after a great fire that almost burned down
the entire city. The park is dedicated to local and national heroes like former
President Ramon Magsaysay, Andrs Bonifacio, Dr. Jos Rizal, and former
Mayor Justiniano R. Borja. Then, we will go to the Gaston Park and the St.
Augustine Cathedral. I know you amazed of the centennial old gothic
inspired cathedral which houses the seat of the Archdiocese of Region 10.
After that, you'll be walking on a 20 steps going to the only leaning tower of
Cagayan de Oro known as the City Museum. And now we are in Museum.
What to expect in the Museum? The history of Cagayan de Oro and the
people who carefully furnish the city. The City Museum of Cagayan de
Oro is formerly a Water Tank Tower built in 1922 but it was renovated and
improved into a museum in 2008. It is the oldest public structure in the city.
It was recognized by the city government as National Museum of the
Philippines for its adaptive reuse of a heritage structure. Our City Museum
has 3 levels, the ground level where photos of famous Kagay-anons who
made a big contribution to the city which allow you to take photos while
second and third floor hold photos of the lifestyle and events of the old city.
The city of Cagayan de Oro has a lot of story to tell and the City Museum is
the best preserver of this rich history.
After knowing the history of Cagayan de Oro, we will be going to a
pasalubong center. You can buy souvenirs for your family and friends. I have
one suggestion guys if you will buy some souvenir, we will go to Limketkai
Mall where in there is only one store there selling a souvenirs which is
affordable also to your pocket. One of the in demand souvenir there is the
BURLOLOY. In this store you can buy a lot, from caps, T-shirts and natives
accessories,. Are you guys done buying souvenirs? Alright! Its already 12
noon. Lets go back to our bus, bus no. 2. Im sure you are all hungry and
excited to try and taste the foods of Kagayanons. We will go to Kagayanons
Restaurant to eat our lunch. Our first local meal in Cagayan de Oro which is
supposedly one of the best Filipino restaurants and biggest fine dining in the
city, designed with typical Filipino wooden furniture. And through the years, it
had already built a name in the local food scene serving the most delicious
and authentic Filipino dishes in the city. Along with the other few restaurants
in the city, Kagay-anon Restaurant serves ostrich meat dishes. Ostrich
Salpicao is their specialty, and has always been a must try among tourists.
Aside of their specialty, their Pinakbet made them to be included in the top
ten restaurants in the Philippines with the best Pinakbet. And I know you will
enjoy the foods. We are in Kagayanon Restaurant. Lets eat!! Are you guys
done? Alright. And now lets proceed in our assigned bus., bus no. 2 Time
check its already 1:30 pm, We will go to the next destination, the Cagayan
River. Cagayan River is a very popular site for whitewater rafting in the
Philippines and has been promoted by the Department of Tourism as the
main tourist attraction of Cagayan de Oro. Whitewater Rafting, Kayaking and
River Trekking have been one of the tourism activities being promoted in the
river. Did you enjoy guys? Fantastic!! Let's go to the other destination
Mapawa , offers a 20-minute trail hike that takes you to a 350-year-old
heritage tree. From here, its another 15-minute hike to the jump-off point for
the river trek. Theres a waterfall thats around two storeys high and acts as
a natural slide, and a 25-foot-high cliff jump. We will go to our last
destination, the Macahambus Cave. If you have a lull in your schedule, set
aside some time to explore this historic cave. In 1900, this cave was the
hideout of the Kagay-anon soldiers during the Battle of Macahambus Hill, the
first victory of Filipinos during the Filipino-American War. Lets gp back to our
bus, nus no.2

Again this is our final and last destination. But Before going to CIRCA
1850 to eat our dinner, offering delicious and healthy dining menu. I would
like to say thank you for your time. Time fly really fast, I know it was a tiring
day. And please double check your personal belongings. I hope you enjoyed
the tour. Have a good night an I will look forward in serving you again in the
future. As a tourist guide please don't forget to SMILE always. Once again I'm
