EVERYONE IS
WELCOME IN
SELFRIDGES
Harry Gordon Selfridge

Harry Gordon Selfridge opened our Oxford Street store in March 1909.

He was an inspired retailer who, from the start, defied the conventional approach to
retailing and created a different way of shopping from self service and a beauty hall at
the front of the store, to a bargain basement department and annual sales. He believed in
the theatre of retail and surprised, amazed and amused his customers with extraordinary
experiences.

Our vision and continuing great success is built on his philosophy and values.

Today, Selfridges is privately owned by Galen Weston, Chairman of Selfridges Group

Limited, which includes our sister luxury retail companies Brown Thomas in Ireland, Holt
Renfrew in Canada and de Bijenkorf in The Netherlands.

We have five stores in Birmingham, London, Exchange Square and the Trafford Centre in

Manchester and Selfridges.com, a Head Office in Oxford Street and support centre in Leicester.
You can find more information about each of these locations at the back of this guide.
