Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Program 2017 2022
1. General Description

1.1 Body of Knowledge

In order to increased and improved the intelligence of Indonesian nation and
part of Corporate Social Responsibility of Yayasan Perguruan Tinggi Teknologi Jakarta,
Perguruan Tinggi Teknologi Jakarta is going to participate actively in the education
sector in Indonesia.
An education in Mechanical engineering provides a foundation to solve the
worlds challenges in areas such as sustainability, environment, or energy. It prepares
students for careers in fields as diverse as engineering design, education, law, medicine,
and public health, as well as for graduate study in engineering and science. Graduates
teach and carry out research in universities, work for large firms, start their own
businesses, and hold leadership positions in government and nonprofit organizations.
The departments undergraduate program provides a solid background in science and
engineering fundamentals while emphasizing hands-on design and research projects
that provide real-world context. Students focus on the use of large data, computation,
probability, and data analysis, and learn how to combine theory, experiments, and
modeling to understand and solve complex science and engineering problems.
Mechanical Engineering Departmentis established with the Yayasan Perguruan
Tinggi Teknologi Jakarta on June 2017. Mechanical Engineering includes of science
aspects quite spacious.

1.2 Challenges
The Department of Mechanical Engineering seeks to understand the world,
invent, and innovate with creative design. To address some of the greatest challenges of
our time.
Based on Issues in Science and Technology of Mechanical Engineering to 2022 with
reference from theWulf: W.A & GMC Fisher Makeover for Engineering Education
(2002) as shown below:
The growing complexity and interdisciplinary foundation of engineered system,
The rapid emergence of new technologies
The blurring of boundaries among technical disciplines
Globalization as a principal driving force for change, accompanied by increasing
global competition
The convergence of biology and engineering
Declining financial support for state colleges and universities and corresponding
emphasis on limiting baccalaureate-level programs to 4 (four) years, and
Prospective students interest that go well beyond perceived boundaries
associated with engineering disciplines traditional roles.

Mechanical Engineering profession at the future should be accommodate the needs

for the issue of globalization, sustainability, advanced technology, and increase the
complexity of the problems should be faced, with regard the safety, health and welfare
of public. Besides it with their demand for professionalism of Mechanical Engineering,
thus the licensed engineer in Mechanical Engineering increased than just have a
bachelors /under graduated degree being a graduate degree.

In general, Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Program must be trusted for
public to create a sustainable world and to improve the quality of life globally
performed competently, cooperation and based on ethical to act as:
1. Planner, designer, contractor and operator of infrastructure and economic and
social - built environment.
2. Protector of the natural environment and its resources.
3. Creator and integrating ideas and technology among the public, private and
academic.
4. The business risks and uncertainties caused by natural events, accidents and
other threats.
5. Leader in the discussions and decision makers in the formation of public policy
and infrastructure environment.

Further, nationally, the need for Mechanical engineer whom able to perform the
design in the field of Mechanical engineering is still high because many infrastructure
development in order to improve the economy and welfare of the community. In
addition, the graduated has to be high adaptation to the change of technology very fast
and versatility.

1.3 Accreditation or Curriculum Standards Reference

In the future, Undergraduate of Mechanical Engineering Study Program has to follow

and obtain the crediting of an international accrediting body, i.e. from
