One97 MMS Platform
Introduction

Data replication technology today plays a vital role in every aspect of IT Network
infrastructure. From providing high availability servers to reduced load servers for
reporting, the functionalities and use are tremendous.

With low cost bandwidth and high availability of speed, networks can be automated
to transmit data across the data centre or across the world for disaster recovery,
content distribution, hardware migration or system consolidation.

One97s MMS technology will help IT teams to not only create secure multiple copies
of the data but move across the high load operations to consolidated servers without
effecting the main configuration and set up. This not only helps recover important data
in case of a disaster , but also helps serves the various needs through the Mirror -
Slave configuration.

Features & Benefits

The key features and benefits of the platform are - :

• High Availability

Today users want their systems, to be ready to serve them at all times. With
distributed architectures and multiple sites configurations , system consolidations
are necessary on a daily basis for reporting , Availability therefore is very
important , architectures should allow systems to submit new information ,
update or alter existing information or collect the results of previous work at any
time , there is no or limited scope of downtime

• Efficient Reporting

Mirror Slave architecture moves data modification, processing and system

reporting to reduced load servers accessible across the organization(outside of
firewall), without effecting/accessing the main replication configuration .System
reports can be easily generated from this slave server with the most recent
updated data .

• Superior Network Management

MMS replication architecture not only prepares us for disaster recovery but also
allow IT staff to stay abreast of business process vulnerability to low network
availability or accidental data loss. The architecture has inbuilt controls to provide
controlled network downtimes, updation for system maintenance without affecting
the data replication procedure

• Proven System Consolidation

One97s MMS replication architecture works on the proven SQL replication

technology for distributing data and stored procedures across an system. Its
provides automated approaches to make duplicate copies of data, move those
copies to different locations, and synchronize the data automatically so that all
copies have the same data values. MMS architecture guarantees transactional
consistency making sure , data at any participating site will be the same data that
would have resulted had all transactions been performed at only a single server.

One97 MMS Architecture

One97's MMS replication solution simplifies and streamlines the proliferation of multi
site data consolidation and reporting with the use of intelligent network management
and automation of failure change over providing 24x7 availability.

Below is the network diagram specifying the network design to provide high availability
and distributed load sharing.

MMS architecture uses virtual IP to provide high uptime and automatic switch over to
mirror configurations in case of a failure in the main server

Configurations
One 97 MMS platform’s configurations are:

• DBs Replication Management – On normal operation there are two

replication chains, one that we call circular replication between Master
and Mirror DBs and another that is a one way replication from Master to Report
DB

• Base Failure/Maintenance Configuration – During Master DB’s maintenance

or failure due to service or hardware errors the replication from Master to Report
is said to be broken. It is broken because in this configuration all update
operations are made on the Mirror DB and, because report slave reads the

replication from Master it won't be updated. On the other hand, replication
between Master and Mirror would work correctly since Master would read the
mirror replication data and is aligned with live operations.

• Master Maintenance Configuration - After the Report DB is configured to read

the Mirror replication files Master DB can undergo the maintenance, if needed.
during the maintenance period to avoid that any of queries used are not
replicated to the Mirror DB configurations can be set. After maintenance master
DB replication master information would be reset to allow replication
configurations to be set to it's normal configuration.

• Restoring Normal Configuration - Scripts designed to allow switch back to the

original configuration (service IP reconfiguration) when the Master DB is
realigned again with the production data;
