2. Weather
a. General questions
Describe the weather in your country, and how it makes you feel. Consider these topics:

- Whats the weather like in your country?

- Does the weather affect your mood?

- How do rainy days make you feel?

- Whats your favourite season of the year?

- What do you like to do when its hot?

- What do you usually do in the winter?

- How many seasons does your country have?

Answer:

I think the best word to describe the weather in my country would be changeable. The British
weather is very unpredictable! One day you can get glorious sunshine then the next day you
might get hailstones and freezing wind. Even in the middle of summer, you can never rely on
getting good weather, as anybody who has organised an outdoor event in this country will know.
Every year on the news we see pop festivals that turn into muddy swamps due to heavy rain or
summer holidays at the seaside ruined by terrible weather . But having said that, when the sun
does decide to shine in this country I could not think of a better place to be. One thing that I like
about the British weather is that we dont really get extremes of temperature as some other
countries do.

The rain does sometimes get me down especially if it continues for weeks without stopping and
it often makes me feel reluctant to leave the house. Id say that my favourite season of the year
is spring because after a long cold winter the first signs of spring really lift your spirits. When we
have a heatwave in the summer, which sometimes can be for weeks on end , I love to go down
to the coast where you can cool off in the sea or just enjoy the cool breeze coming off the sea.

In the winter I tend to stay indoors as much as possible because I hate the cold weather. I think
having four very different seasons, as we do in the UK, is a good thing because its amazing to
see how the countryside changes with the seasons. I think I would find it very strange to live
near the equator where the weather is pretty much the same all year round.

b. Weather forecast
Today its very windy and cold. I think it might rain later, because there are many dark clouds.
The temperature is around12 degrees. In the weather forecast they said there may be a
thunderstorm, but in my opinion it doesnt look like it.

3. Family
c. Talk about my family
d. Describe someone in your family that you admire and explain why
The person I admire the most, not just in my family but in the whole world is my mom. She is a
great wife and a wonderful mother. She is loving, caring, open-minded and very understanding.

I love how she looks at things. She is very optimistic and a great cook.

4. What did you do yesterday?

Yesterday I woke up at around 10. I had breakfast with my mum and dad. Afterwards, I had a
shower and I studied until lunch time. Later, I went out with my best friend to a huge park in the
city centre, el retiro. We had a lot of fun. At 8 we had dinner in an Italian restaurant, and
afterwards we went out dancing in a Cuban bar. It was the best day ever!

5. What are your plans for tomorrow

Tomorrow Ill wake up at around 10. I will have breakfast and have a shower. After I will study
until lunch time. At 4, Im meeting my best friend to go to a huge park in the center of Madrid:
el retiro. I suppose will be there until dinner time. Afterwards, we have reserved a table in one
of our favorite restaurants. I think tomorrow its going to be a great day!
6. Free time
e. Option 1
Well, I do quite a lot of sport actually. I go swimming twice a week. Theres a very good pool just
around the corner from my office. I swim for an hour and do about 40 lengths. I also cycle to
work when I can. Apart from that, I do a lot of reading and photography.

f. Option 2
I have tennis lessons with a group of friends at the weekend. There are eight of us, four moms
and dads and four kids. The idea was that the lessons would give us the chance to do something
sporty with our children, and its great. The teacher is really good and we all have a fantastic time.
Plus, were getting better at tennis. Best of all, after an hour of tennis, the kids go off to play, and
we can have a drink and a chat. Now, thats my idea of playing sport. Apart from that, I also go
out bowling once a month.

g. Option 3
I like going out with friends, especially if we go out to have dinner. I love going to restaurants.
My favorite places to go are Chinese restaurants. Also, on my free time, I like walking my dog
around my neighborhood. I love reading and watching TV on Sundays with my mum.

7. Describe a museum that you have visited.

I have visited 5-6 museums in total in different countries and enjoyed visiting the (tell a
museum name you know about) in (say the country name). I went to the museum 2 years back
while visiting the city. Visiting the museum was not in our tour plan and yet we went there as it
was prominently expressing its present in front of us. I went there with my 2 friends and one
cousin who were my tour partners. My cousin and one of my friends were not at all interested
to roam inside the museum as they had other plans. I insisted them to go there and convinced
them by saying that if you do not enjoy it; I would pay for the dinner!

After we bought our tickets, we entered into the museum and the colossal front side of the
museum building and the large open garden in front of it mesmerised us. At that time I had a
feeling that our time would worth the visit.

After we entered inside the museum, we found that the place is even larger than we initially
thought it would be. There were 5 floors in the museum and the inside architecture reminded
us the imperial age. We could see the top of the building from the ground floor. People from
different age groups and countries were closely observing the museum. Taking photo was
prohibited and yet I was sometimes lured to take some hidden snaps especially when I saw the
colossal dinosaur fossil and alien ship!

The first floor of the museum had some art from a famous artist of the world and sculptures
from a different era. The first floor gave us the impression of visiting a theatre or art gallery
rather than a museum. We came to know that some of the arts were so expensive that one
can buy an island by selling it! Then we moved to the second floor which was full of Second
World War memories. Guns, tanks and other war materials from 1945 WW II had been
arranged there. A video was showing some of the fighting scenes of WW II.

When we reached the third floor, its been already 2.5 hours. We found all the costumes and
traditional things from different parts of the world have been placed here. One can easily learn
about the customs of different ages and countries just by visiting this floor. The next floor had
more adventure and surprises for us. It has placed all the major inventions of different ages
and they were historically famous. I felt overwhelmed seeing the First computer, Speed boat,
Wheel, Motor Engine and many more famous invention of history at this floor. I was so much
dying to touch the first 4 wheeler that had been placed there.

We had visited the whole museum as much as possible and spent almost the whole day. We
were so enthralled to visit the place that we literally forgot to have our lunch. The overall
experience was fantastic and I learned so many things in few hours. As soon as I left the place,
I planned to revisit it someday.
