BAULINE

Bauline is named for a fishing community in Newfoundland, which we shot in the winter, just around sundown.
The colour inspired by that shot is the tonal used in this cowl. The cowl uses simple stitches with very little to
remember and works up quickly, making it a great weekend or car project.

You will need: Gauge:


One skein of a Tonal Series yarn in 4mm circular needles in 24 22 stitches = 4 inches in stockinette
Escarpment DK 1 stitch marker Size:
One set of a Gradient Series yarn in Tapestry needle for weaving in ends One size;
Escarpment DK twins Circumference: 30 , Height: 16.5

Directions
With the tonal yarn, cast on 172 stitches. Join in the round, Garter Ridge:
being careful not to twist, and add a marker here for the Round 1: Purl all stitches
BOR. Round 2: Knit all stitches

Ribbing Section: Ombr Section:


Rounds 1-10: k2, p2* repeat from* to end Switching to your ombr yarn, knit all stitches, all rounds,
until you run out of the second DK twin. I chose to begin
Garter Ridge: with the colour I ended with in the first ombr section, but
Round 1: Purl all stitches this is totally up to you :)
Round 2: Knit all stitches

Bamboo Section: Garter Ridge:


Round 1: Slip one as if to knit with yarn in back, k1, yo, Switching back to tonal yarn;
pass the slipped stitch over both the k1 and the yo*, repeat Round 1: Purl all stitches
from* to end Round 2: Knit all stitches
Round 2: Knit all stitches
Bamboo Section:
Repeat rounds one and two twice more (6 rows total of Round 1: Slip one as if to knit with yarn in back, k1, yo,
bamboo section) pass the slipped stitch over both the k1 and the yo*, repeat
from* to end
Garter Ridge: Round 2: Knit all stitches
Round 1: Purl all stitches

Round 1: Purl all stitches Rounds 1-10: k2, p2* repeat from* to end
Round 2: Knit all stitches
Bind off using Jennys Surprisingly Stretchy Bind off
